Saratoga Springs runs no curbside household refuse route. The transfer station and recycling center at 41 Weibel Avenue is operated by the Department of Public Works and opens Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 am to 3:45 pm, anyone may use it, and bagged and other non-recycled waste goes into a stationary compactor with an attendant on site. Landfill stickers are sold there for two dollars for a standard garbage bag, and the county uses single-stream recycling, so recyclables arrive loose and unsorted. Compost can also be dropped free at the Saratoga Farmers Market silver bins year round.
The county lists the appliances that are accepted at the Saratoga County Recycling Center at 41 Weibel Avenue: objects with all liquids and glass removed, including scrap metal, stoves, hot water heaters, dishwashers, refrigerators, air conditioners, water coolers, microwaves, washers, dryers and grills.
