Get it ready
Wipe personal data before handover and keep electronics out of the garbage, because New York State makes it illegal to put electronic waste in the trash. The bulk page states that electronics are not accepted at the curb while the same page and the pricing sheet list and price televisions, so confirm a television with the dispatcher rather than assuming either answer.
Set out the night before the confirmed date, not earlier
Items may not be placed at the curb until after 6 p.m. the night before the confirmed pickup date, and household garbage follows a similar window, out after 7 p.m. the night before or before 6 a.m. on the collection day. Garbage has to be in the city-provided water-tight container rather than in a bag, and recyclables go out in the city blue container in the same window.
Keep hazardous waste, dirt and project material off the curb
Household hazardous waste, batteries, used oil and filters, industrial waste, medical waste, sludge and fuel ashes are refused on the bulk route. Dirt, rocks, bricks, cinder blocks, sand and concrete are refused as well, and construction or demolition material set out for pickup is treated as illegal disposal. Paint can go to a household hazardous waste event or to a PaintCare retail location, and a screen belongs with the electronics programme rather than in the garbage.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
