A few pieces, one pickup

Your room has changed. The old furniture can go.

The desk you no longer use. The dresser that doesn’t fit the new layout. The chairs left over after a move. Choose the pieces you’re done with and give them a pickup day, without arranging a quote visit.

Different pieces. One clear total.

Add each furniture item and its quantity. See the combined price before you pay, with loading, transportation and disposal included.

Choose each piece

A table and four chairs are five items.

You don’t need to guess how much space your furniture fills in a truck. Match each piece to the catalog, then add its quantity. Your total updates as you go.

Tables and chairs

Choose the table, then add each chair separately. Coffee tables, side tables and dining tables have their own options. A large or substantially heavy table has a different choice.

Dressers and mirrors

Match the dresser’s overall size. Add a separate dresser mirror as its own item if it is leaving too. Empty drawers and keep the belongings you want before moving the dresser outside.

Desks and bookshelves

Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

  1. Choose what leaves and what stays.

Count the furniture you want removed and empty drawers, shelves and cabinets. Add any other items to the booking instead of leaving an unlisted pile beside the furniture.

  2. Arrange the move outside.

You handle indoor carrying and any disassembly needed to get the furniture through your home. Plan for doorways, interior stairs and building access before pickup day.

  3. Show exactly what goes.

Use a permitted outdoor spot with a clear route to the furniture. Add a location photo and access notes. Keep the pickup items separate from furniture and belongings that are staying.

Couches, chairs and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

Large non-metal household items such as furniture are collected at the curb on the second day of your garbage pickup, with a 10 minute limit at each address so the citywide schedule holds. Households on the Automated Side Loader streets book the pickup instead, because anything that does not fit in the can needs a special truck.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included in city residential collection, with no separate bulky charge published. Households on ASL streets need an appointment, and the city asks for two days notice when a special truck is scheduled.
When & how
On the regular routes, put furniture out on the second day of your garbage pickup. On ASL streets, call 914-422-1217 for an appointment after the two day notice.
Get it ready
Keep the load to non-metal household items that two people can move, keep loose bags off the curb, and keep the pile clear of the sidewalk. Items that are still usable can go to the seasonal Take It or Leave It shed instead.

The handoff matters

Bulk follows the second trash day, unless you are on an ASL street

On the regular collection routes, large non-metal household items such as mattresses and furniture are picked up at the curb on the second day of the garbage pickup, and the crew spends a maximum of 10 minutes at each address to keep the citywide schedule. Households served by the Automated Side Loader trucks have to call 914-422-1217 to book the pickup, because anything that does not fit inside the black-lidded can needs a special truck, and the city asks for two days notice.

Every mattress gets wrapped and taped

Because of bed bug concerns, the city requires every mattress to be wrapped in plastic and sealed with tape before Sanitation will take it, and the rule applies on both the regular routes and the Automated Side Loader streets. Foam toppers and other bedding follow the same idea: keep them bagged and out of the recycling containers rather than setting them out loose.

Use the city bulk collection on the second trash day

A White Plains household on a regular collection route with a couch, a mattress, a table or another non-metal item that will not fit in a can.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Included in city residential collection with no separate bulky charge published. The address has to be on a regular route; Automated Side Loader households book a special truck instead.
Arrange it
Set the items out on the second day of your garbage pickup, keep the pile to what the crew can handle in 10 minutes, and wrap and tape any mattress before it goes out.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

White Plains residents have a city yard and a county facility for what the trucks will not take. The Gedney Recycling Yard at 87 Gedney Way is for residents only, with ID shown at the gate house and no commercial loads, and it takes household paper and co-mingled recycling, small non-automotive scrap metal by drop-off only, textiles, small electronics and televisions under 55 inches. Large metal items and white goods such as refrigerators, stoves and boilers need a scheduled curbside appointment through Sanitation at 914-422-1217 instead, and the city stores those items at the yard in the meantime. For paint, chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, tires, rechargeable batteries, refrigerant appliances and document shredding, the county runs the Household Material Recovery Facility at 15 Woods Road in Valhalla, open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. by appointment only, with reservations made online or through the Recycling Helpline at (914) 813-5425. Renovation debris is outside all of this: the city does not collect doors, fencing, siding, toilets or bathtubs, and the county refuses construction and demolition debris, so that load goes to a licensed private transfer station. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Furniture removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in White Plains.

How much does furniture removal cost in White Plains?

Choose the type and size of each piece to see its price. For example, a medium dresser is $79 as the first item or $29 as an additional item. Your total starts with the highest first-item price in your selection, then uses the additional-item price for every other item. Review the complete total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I get same-day furniture pickup in White Plains?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup and choose from the dates shown at checkout. Arrange to have the furniture outside according to your confirmation. You receive a text when your hauler is on the way and photos after collection.

Will you remove furniture from inside my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange indoor carrying, including any interior stairs or elevator trip. We load and take away the furniture from an accessible outdoor location. Check your building’s rules and plan the route out before booking.

Can you take several different furniture items in one pickup?

Yes. Add each piece and its quantity to one booking. A dining table and four chairs are five items; a separate mirror is not included with a dresser. You can mix eligible items from different rooms and review their combined total before paying.

Do I need to take furniture apart before pickup?

You arrange any disassembly needed to move the furniture out of your home and into an accessible outdoor pickup spot. Dropcurb does not provide indoor disassembly or carrying. If you are unsure which catalog choice matches a dismantled or unusual piece, send a photo and ask before booking.

When does a White Plains couch go out?

On the regular routes it goes out on the second day of your garbage pickup as a large non-metal household item, and the crew spends up to 10 minutes at the address. Households on the Automated Side Loader streets call Sanitation at 914-422-1217 to book the pickup, because the item will not fit in the cart.Official guidance
