A few pieces, one pickup

Your room has changed. The old furniture can go.

The desk you no longer use. The dresser that doesn’t fit the new layout. The chairs left over after a move. Choose the pieces you’re done with and give them a pickup day, without arranging a quote visit.

Different pieces. One clear total.

Choose each piece

A table and four chairs are five items.

You don’t need to guess how much space your furniture fills in a truck. Match each piece to the catalog, then add its quantity. Your total updates as you go.

Tables and chairs

Choose the table, then add each chair separately. Coffee tables, side tables and dining tables have their own options. A large or substantially heavy table has a different choice.

Dressers and mirrors

Match the dresser’s overall size. Add a separate dresser mirror as its own item if it is leaving too. Empty drawers and keep the belongings you want before moving the dresser outside.

Desks and bookshelves

Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

Count the furniture you want removed and empty drawers, shelves and cabinets. Add any other items to the booking instead of leaving an unlisted pile beside the furniture.

You handle indoor carrying and any disassembly needed to get the furniture through your home. Plan for doorways, interior stairs and building access before pickup day.

  3. Show exactly what goes.

Couches, sofas and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

Furniture is named as a bulk item and rides the weekly curbside collection at no extra item charge, inside the residential Waste Management service.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Single family homes on public residential streets with Waste Management service billed at the published quarterly rate for garbage and recycling; condominiums and apartments on private roads are outside the programme, and bulk items are picked up by a separate truck from garbage and yard waste.
When & how
Put the furniture at the curb on the usual collection day, no later than 7:00 A.M. and no earlier than 3:00 P.M. the day before, and leave it out until the bulk truck arrives, because the separate vehicles can come at different times between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. A weekday holiday pushes the whole week one day and a weekend holiday does not.
Get it ready
Keep the piece clear of the cart, the recycling bin and the driveway so the crew can reach it, and keep tires, hazardous material, construction or demolition debris, yard waste and large auto parts out of the same pile, because the city refuses them in the bulk collection.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Out by 7 a.m. on the collection day and back in the next morning

Material goes to the curb no later than 7:00 A.M. on the collection day and no earlier than 3:00 P.M. the day before, and cans and containers come off the curb before 7 A.M. the day after. Garbage, bulk items and yard waste arrive on separate vehicles that can come at different times between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., and there are no callbacks, so a pile stays out until the right truck reaches it. A holiday that falls on a weekday pushes the whole schedule one day, while a weekend holiday does not.

City of Mentor Public Works with Waste Management and the Lake County Department of Utilities Solid Waste Division

Put bulk items out with the weekly Waste Management collection

A Mentor household on a public residential street with an appliance, a piece of furniture or another large item that will not fit in the garbage container.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Single family homes on public residential streets served by the city's Waste Management contract, where bulk items are included in the quarterly rate for garbage and recycling; condominiums and apartments on private roads must arrange service through their own management.
Arrange it
Set the items at the curb on the regular collection day, no later than 7:00 A.M. and no earlier than 3:00 P.M. the day before, and leave them out until the separate bulk truck arrives. Waste Management customer service is at (866) 797-9018 and the city Public Works number is (440) 974-5781.

Tires, hazardous materials, yard waste, construction and demolition debris, large auto parts and dead animals are refused. Air conditioners and refrigerators must have the CFCs removed and a certified technician's tag attached before pickup, and there are no callbacks for a missed pile.

Self hauling in Mentor runs through the Lake County Solid Waste Facility at 2039 Blase Nemeth Road in Painesville, open Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM with alternate holiday hours. Household waste is charged at a car load minimum for up to 330 pounds, a higher pickup minimum up to 660 pounds, or by the ton as weighed waste generated inside Lake County, and pre-approved construction and demolition debris is charged at that same per ton rate. Appliances are charged per unit, tires off the rim are limited to six per trip and charged per tire, and clean excavated soil has its own flat load rate. Mixed recycling bins and the residential electronics drop-off are free for county residents, televisions and monitors carry a small per unit charge, and the universal waste counter for paint, batteries, bulbs, cleaners, mercury devices and pool chemicals opens only on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and only takes material from residents in original containers. Twice a year the county replaces that counter with a free household hazardous roundup at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 1301 Mentor Ave in Painesville, which adds propane tanks, fire extinguishers, kerosene, unknown chemicals, roofing tars, lawn and pool chemicals and oil-based paints. Lake County Solid Waste Facility

2039 Blase Nemeth Road, Painesville, OH 44077

Household and commercial waste by the load or by weight, including furniture and other bulky household items, pre-approved construction and demolition debris at the weighed waste rate, clean excavated soil, appliances, tires without rims at six maximum, free mixed recycling for Lake County residents, free residential electronics including computers, printers, peripherals, phones and anything that plugs in or takes batteries other than a major appliance, televisions and monitors for a per unit fee, and Saturday universal waste such as aerosol cans, antifreeze, automotive lubricants, batteries, fertilizer, fluorescent bulbs, mercury devices, oil-based paints, paint-related products, pesticides, household cleaners and pool chemicals.

Scrap tires are not landfilled and are limited to six per trip without rims; construction and demolition debris must be pre-approved; the universal waste counter is open only on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, is for Lake County residents and not businesses, and takes material in original containers; propane tanks, acetylene tanks, fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, gasoline, kerosene, ammunition, medical waste, butane torches, latex paint and PCB-containing light fixtures are refused; the free recycling bins are for Lake County residents only; and the facility staff decide whether a load is unloaded in the drop-off building or at the landfill face.

Landfill and scale house Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with alternate holiday hours and closures published separately. Electronics are accepted during all operating hours and the universal waste counter opens only on Saturdays 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

From $5 for minimum car load charge for up to 330 pounds of waste, with a pickup truck load up to 660 pounds charged at the higher minimum, weighed waste generated inside Lake County charged per ton with host, state and district fees included, pre-approved construction and demolition debris charged at the same per ton rate, appliances charged per unit, tires charged per tire, clean excavated soil charged per load, and televisions and monitors charged per unit at the electronics drop-off. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Furniture removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Mentor.

How much does furniture removal cost in Mentor?

Choose the type and size of each piece to see its price. For example, a medium dresser is $79 as the first item or $29 as an additional item. Your total starts with the highest first-item price in your selection, then uses the additional-item price for every other item. Review the complete total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I get same-day furniture pickup in Mentor?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup and choose from the dates shown at checkout. Arrange to have the furniture outside according to your confirmation. You receive a text when your hauler is on the way and photos after collection.

Will you remove furniture from inside my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange indoor carrying, including any interior stairs or elevator trip. We load and take away the furniture from an accessible outdoor location. Check your building’s rules and plan the route out before booking.

Can you take several different furniture items in one pickup?

Yes. Add each piece and its quantity to one booking. A dining table and four chairs are five items; a separate mirror is not included with a dresser. You can mix eligible items from different rooms and review their combined total before paying.

Do I need to take furniture apart before pickup?

You arrange any disassembly needed to move the furniture out of your home and into an accessible outdoor pickup spot. Dropcurb does not provide indoor disassembly or carrying. If you are unsure which catalog choice matches a dismantled or unusual piece, send a photo and ask before booking.
