When & how

Get it ready
Have the compressor removed from a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner, have the work certified by a licensed technician, and submit the verification form before the appliance is scheduled. Expect refrigerant bearing units to be refused at the transfer station unless the removal is documented, so confirm before loading.
Place the cart within one foot of the curb before 7 a.m. on the collection day, with the handles toward the house and the lid opening toward the street. The automated arm needs at least four feet of clearance from mailboxes, other carts, bags, fences, meters, poles and landscaping, and a cart that is not in compliance may be left unemptied.
Trash weekly, recycling every other week, same day
The trash cart is collected once a week and the recycling cart every other week on the same day, but they are separate collections with different trucks and different times, so the recycling may come before or after the trash. Crews may work until dark to finish their routes.
