Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.

Stillwater publishes two routes for large items and both are priced. A household can call the utility to arrange a curbside bulk item pickup, and the rate sheet prices that at 25 dollars per item with a special collection fee of 25 dollars per two cubic yards, or the same load can be taken to the Convenience Collection Center, where furniture is charged by size and several bulky categories are free.
Furniture has both a curbside and a drop-off route. The city's bulk item pickup service names furniture explicitly and is arranged by telephone, while the Convenience Collection Center charges a small, medium or large furniture fee of 10, 15 or 20 dollars depending on the piece.
A mattress is priced on the center's own fee schedule at 10 dollars for any size, and bedding can also go out as one of the items on a 25 dollar curbside bulk pickup.
Metal appliances including microwaves are accepted free at the Convenience Collection Center, with one condition: an appliance containing refrigerant such as a refrigerator must be purged and carry a sticker certifying that it was purged correctly. A refrigerator can also go on a curbside bulk pickup for 25 dollars per item.
Electronics have two priced routes. The city names electronics among the items eligible for its curbside bulk item pickup at 25 dollars per item, and the center charges small electronic items at 5 dollars, medium at 10 and large at 15, with any size television or monitor at 25 dollars.
Exercise equipment is not named on either list. The closest published categories are scrap metal, which the center accepts with no fee, and the general bulk item route at 25 dollars per item.
Tires are free at the Convenience Collection Center, limited to two per day and only without rims. Car batteries and rechargeable batteries are also on the free list, and used motor oil and antifreeze have their own published prices.
The handoff matters
Stillwater's utility provides municipal collection for residents and businesses, serving single-family homes, duplexes, mobile homes and addresses up to three miles outside the city limits. Inside the city limits the monthly rate buys weekly household trash, weekly single-stream recycling, glass recycling on the first collection day of the month, weekly yard waste except on that first collection day and on holidays, access to the Convenience Collection Center, and curbside collection of Pay-As-You-Throw bags. Trash and recycling are collected even on holidays, but there is no service in the weeks of New Year's, July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas, when pickup is delayed one day. The 2026 cart rates run from 17.36 a month for a 35 gallon cart to 23.11 for 96 gallons, with 96 gallons and house-side service at 35.17, and an extra out-of-schedule cart empty costs 15 dollars.
