The local disposal guide
Stillwater collects waste as a city utility and publishes the prices, which makes the routes here unusually easy to state. A household inside the city limits pays 17.36 a month for a 35 gallon cart up to 23.11 for a 96 gallon cart, and that rate includes weekly trash, weekly single-stream recycling, glass recycling on the first collection day of the month, weekly yard waste, and access to the staffed Convenience Collection Center on South Perkins Road. Large items have two published routes. A resident can call the utility and arrange a curbside bulk item pickup at 25 dollars per item, with a special collection fee of 25 dollars per two cubic yards, and furniture, appliances and electronics are all named as eligible; or the same items can be driven to the center, where metal appliances including microwaves, tires up to two per day without rims, scrap metal, car and rechargeable batteries, antifreeze and cooking oil are taken free, while furniture is charged by size at 10, 15 or 20 dollars, electronics from 5 to 15 dollars, any television or monitor at 25 dollars and any mattress at 10 dollars. Construction debris and hazardous waste are refused there, and a move-in or move-out cleanup of 20 bags or boxes is free twice a year.

Furniture has both a curbside and a drop-off route. The city's bulk item pickup service names furniture explicitly and is arranged by telephone, while the Convenience Collection Center charges a small, medium or large furniture fee of 10, 15 or 20 dollars depending on the piece.
A mattress is priced on the center's own fee schedule at 10 dollars for any size, and bedding can also go out as one of the items on a 25 dollar curbside bulk pickup.
Metal appliances including microwaves are accepted free at the Convenience Collection Center, with one condition: an appliance containing refrigerant such as a refrigerator must be purged and carry a sticker certifying that it was purged correctly. A refrigerator can also go on a curbside bulk pickup for 25 dollars per item.
Electronics have two priced routes. The city names electronics among the items eligible for its curbside bulk item pickup at 25 dollars per item, and the center charges small electronic items at 5 dollars, medium at 10 and large at 15, with any size television or monitor at 25 dollars.
Construction debris is on the Convenience Collection Center's not accepted list, so it cannot be dropped at the drive-through. The city publishes a separate roll-off container service rate schedule for project work, which is the route to arrange with the utility.
Exercise equipment is not named on either list. The closest published categories are scrap metal, which the center accepts with no fee, and the general bulk item route at 25 dollars per item.
Tires are free at the Convenience Collection Center, limited to two per day and only without rims. Car batteries and rechargeable batteries are also on the free list, and used motor oil and antifreeze have their own published prices.
The center takes several household streams, including antifreeze, cooking oil, car batteries, rechargeable batteries, medical sharps and fluorescent bulbs, and it prices motor oil and latex paint. Hazardous waste itself is on the not accepted list, and a May 2026 notice says liquid latex paint is no longer accepted even though the fee schedule still lists it.
The handoff matters
Stillwater's utility provides municipal collection for residents and businesses, serving single-family homes, duplexes, mobile homes and addresses up to three miles outside the city limits. Inside the city limits the monthly rate buys weekly household trash, weekly single-stream recycling, glass recycling on the first collection day of the month, weekly yard waste except on that first collection day and on holidays, access to the Convenience Collection Center, and curbside collection of Pay-As-You-Throw bags. Trash and recycling are collected even on holidays, but there is no service in the weeks of New Year's, July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas, when pickup is delayed one day. The 2026 cart rates run from 17.36 a month for a 35 gallon cart to 23.11 for 96 gallons, with 96 gallons and house-side service at 35.17, and an extra out-of-schedule cart empty costs 15 dollars.

For a curbside collection the trash page says to call (405) 742-8245 to arrange pickup for furniture, appliances or electronics and to ask about fees, and the 2026 residential rate schedule answers that question with bulk collection at 25 dollars per item and a special collection fee of 25 dollars per two cubic yards. The drop-off alternative is the Convenience Collection Center at 807 S. Perkins Road, where furniture is 10, 15 or 20 dollars by size, any mattress is 10 dollars, electronics are 5, 10 or 15 dollars, any television or monitor is 25 dollars, wood loads and carpet loads are banded from 10 to 25 dollars, and metal appliances including microwaves, tires up to two a day without rims, scrap metal, car and rechargeable batteries, antifreeze and cooking oil are free. A move-in or move-out cleanup of 20 bags or boxes is free twice a year.

Residents must bring a City of Stillwater utility bill issued within the last three months and identification whose last name or address matches the bill, and trailers are prohibited. The center refuses ammunition, construction debris, hazardous waste, explosive materials, items prohibited by law, medical waste and non-recyclable commercial waste, which is why renovation material and household chemicals have to be handled another way. It also sets the rules for what it does take: yard waste is limited to one load a day of no more than 120 cubic feet with limbs under eight feet, tires are limited to two a day without rims, an appliance containing refrigerant must be purged with a certification sticker affixed, sharps must arrive in a medical sharps container, and as of May 1, 2026 liquid latex paint is no longer accepted and paint must be dried before it goes into the trash cart.
