Choose the right items

One computer setup can be several items.

A separate monitor and tower count separately. Small devices and cables have their own box option. Choose what is actually leaving so your price matches the pickup.

Monitor, desktop or laptop.

Choose Computer monitor for each separate display. Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. A laptop is its own item. Add only the devices going.

Printer or office copier.

A printer with a built-in scanner belongs under Printer. A floor-standing copy machine belongs under Office copier. The shape matters more than the brand.

A box of smaller electronics.

Use Box of electronics for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. For a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries, send a photo and confirm the fit before booking.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Not on the regular city route

Televisions and monitors are refused in the curbside bulk pile and go to the transfer station, where each set carries a published fee that is waived during bulk week. Computers, printers, stereos, phones and microwaves are accepted there for recycling.

City cost & eligibility
From $10 per cathode ray tube computer monitor at the transfer station, with cathode ray tube televisions at $20 each and both fees waived during the city's curbside bulk pickup weeks. Electronic recycling items are accepted with the free monthly resident disposal up to a level pickup bed, and the per item fees apply to monitors and televisions. A current utility bill and a matching driver's licence are required.
When & how
Take the equipment to the transfer station at 501 Ash Avenue during its published hours, or use a bulk pickup week when the television and monitor fees are waived.
Get it ready
Keep televisions, monitors and batteries out of the curbside pile entirely, and keep them out of the recycle centre bins as well, which refuse window glass, light bulbs, ceramics and household metal items. Wipe personal data from a computer before it is recycled.

Only city carts are serviced, and nothing extra sits beside them

Yukon services only its own carts, and the city no longer collects extra trash bags or additional curbside material outside a cart or dumpster. Carts go to the street by 6 a.m. on the trash day, point toward the street with the wheels against the curb, keep the lid closed, and stay at least three feet from vehicles, mailboxes and overhead obstructions.

One free transfer station load each month

City residents may dispose of household trash, yard waste and rubbish once per calendar month at no charge, limited to no more than a level pickup bed, and the free visit requires a driver's licence plus the current month's utility bill with a matching name or address. Loads beyond that are charged by the load or by the cubic yard.

Take the load to the transfer station

A household with a freon appliance, a television or monitor, tires, batteries, electronics, computer equipment or a mixed load of rubbish and yard waste.

Cost & conditions
From $10 per load in a passenger automobile or the level bed of a pickup after the free monthly visit, with trailer rates, a per cubic yard rate outside those parameters, and per item charges for tires, batteries, monitors, televisions and appliances with refrigerant. The first visit each calendar month is free to city residents up to a level pickup bed with a driver's licence and the current month's utility bill matching the address. During the city's bulk pickup weeks the per item fees for televisions, monitors, batteries, tires and appliances with refrigerant are waived.
Arrange it
Drive to 501 Ash Avenue, bring the licence and the current utility bill for the free visit, and separate the load so the item charges are clear at the gate.

Freon appliances need documentation of refrigerant removal under the EPA rule, tires are limited to 25 inches with no agricultural or off road tires, and trailers are only charged the flat rates when the sides are no higher than one foot.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in Yukon means the city transfer station at 501 Ash Avenue, where residents get one free disposal each calendar month limited to a level pickup bed and need a driver's licence plus the current month's utility bill with a matching name or address. Beyond that free visit, a load in a passenger automobile or the level bed of a pickup, a short trailer and a longer trailer each carry a flat rate, and anything outside those parameters is charged by the cubic yard. The station takes tires up to 25 inches in three size bands, batteries per battery, cathode ray tube televisions and monitors per set, and appliances with refrigerant per unit, but only with documentation that the refrigerant was removed under the EPA rule, and those per item fees are waived during the city's curbside bulk pickup weeks. Computer equipment, printers, phones, stereos, microwaves, washers, dryers and dishwashers are accepted for recycling, while cut lumber and sheet goods go to four foot pieces. Household chemicals have no city site, so the city directs residents to the Oklahoma City collection centre on South Portland Avenue, which may charge Yukon households through their municipality.
