Metro is an Oregon E-Cycles location and accepts desktop and laptop computers, printers, televisions, monitors, tablets, keyboards and computer mice at no charge for residential customers, intact or broken, with a limit of seven items per day per person. The statewide program the city describes covers computers, monitors and televisions up to seven at a time but not keyboards, mice, speakers, printers or scanners.
When & how
Take the device to Metro Central at 6161 NW 61st Avenue, open to the public every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's days. Statewide E-Cycles collection sites, including local Goodwill stores, take computers, monitors and televisions without a trip across the river.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before a computer, tablet or phone leaves the house, and keep devices out of the curbside carts. Broken screens are accepted, but packing them so they do not shatter in the vehicle protects the load.

Metro Central on NW 61st Avenue takes general public loads every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with commercial account hours earlier on weekdays. The facility is closed to the public on the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's days.
Place hazardous products upright in sturdy boxes in a single layer with the lids secured, keep them in their original containers, and put broken or leaking containers in zip top bags. Fluorescent tubes should be wrapped rather than taped, and sharps belong in an approved sharps container.

Take the material to Metro Central on NW 61st Avenue from Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or to Metro South on Washington Street in Oregon City daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., packed upright in sturdy boxes. Metro also runs neighbourhood collection events, which the city lists as free.
