Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.

Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

The curbside package is built around the garbage cart: a grey garbage cart, a ninety five gallon blue cart for mixed recycling, a ninety five gallon green cart for mixed organics, and a small red bin for glass, batteries, usable paint, used motor oil, cooking oil and antifreeze, with garbage and organics collected weekly and recycling collected every other week.
Both Keizer haulers take material that does not fit the carts. Loren's junk pickup covers extra garbage, old furniture, tires, appliances, yard waste, construction debris and mattresses, and Valley's special removal and clean up service handles appliances, furniture, tires, e-waste, junk and piles of demolition or yard waste up to ten yards on a free estimate.
A mattress does not fit a cart, so it leaves the house as junk pickup: Loren's lists mattresses among the items it removes, and Valley's special removal service covers the same kind of oversized household material for a quoted fee.
An appliance goes to a separate pickup or to a county site rather than into a cart or container. Marion County charges twenty five dollars for any appliance designed to contain refrigerant, because the refrigerant has to be removed by a professional who provides the county with the documentation the EPA Clean Air Act requires, and the same fee applies whether or not refrigerant is still inside.
Televisions, computers, monitors and printers go through Oregon E-Cycles, the state program that lets anyone take seven or fewer of those items at a time to a participating collection site for free recycling, with keyboards and mice also free, while other types of electronics are not included. Valley separately refuses televisions and computers in its containers and collects them for a nominal fee.
Construction material does not go in a curbside cart. Both Keizer haulers deliver drop boxes, and Marion County takes construction material at the Brown's Island Demolition Landfill for fifty dollars per cubic yard with a fifty dollar minimum from July 1, 2026, while noting that lightweight material may cost less at the Salem-Keizer station because that site charges by weight.
The handoff matters
Carts and bins go to the curb with the lids opening toward the street no later than 6 a.m. on the regular collection day, with at least four feet of space between containers and any other obstacle so the automated arm can reach them. Both Keizer haulers ask that bins stay off sidewalks and clear of vehicles, mailboxes and each other.

Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.
