From $15.53 for the published rate for an appliance without refrigerant collected by the regular garbage truck, with an appliance containing refrigerant at $25.89, a special collection of the first item at $26.93, each additional item at $10.36 and a two person special collection at $62.13, plus the Metropolitan tip fee at market price on refrigerated units. City of Troutdale residential accounts served by WM under the city franchise agreement, with the rate set by the city resolution effective October 1, 2025.

Get it ready
Say whether the unit contains refrigerant when the pickup is arranged, because refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers are priced and handled differently and carry the tip fee. Metro Central takes metal appliances such as stoves, water heaters, microwaves, dishwashers, washers and dryers free, and charges for coolant appliances.
Garbage, recycling and yard debris are collected on all holidays except Christmas Day and New Year's Day. When the collection day falls on or after one of those two holidays, service is one day later that week, with Friday customers served on Saturday.
Anything that does not fit in a cart with the lid closed is a bulky item with its own published rate, and the hauler decides whether it is collected on the regular truck or needs a special collection. Mattresses, appliances, console televisions, furniture and building materials are the examples the hauler names.
Paint, solvents, cleaners, pesticides, batteries and sharps never belong in the trash. Household hazardous waste is free at the Metro Central site at 6161 NW 61st Ave, open Monday to Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and at the community collection events Metro holds on Saturdays in spring and fall.

Vehicles, asbestos material, burned material and wildfire ash, roofing, loads of liquids, petroleum contaminated soil, radioactive metals and electric vehicle batteries are not accepted, and the site closes to the public on the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
Troutdale residents have two ways to move material that will not fit in a cart. The hauler collects bulky items, appliances, console televisions, furniture and building materials by special arrangement at the city's published per item rates, with the Metropolitan tip fee added to bulky items and refrigerated appliances.
