Troutdale franchises all of its curbside collection to WM and sets the rates itself, so the city publishes a full price list rather than leaving residents to call for a quote. A single monthly charge covers weekly garbage, recycling and yard debris in WM roll carts, and single family homes have that collection every Thursday. Anything that will not fit in a cart with the lid closed is a bulky item with its own published rate, and a couch, mattress, appliance or console television can be collected at the curb that way or dropped at Metro Central in Portland. Metro takes mattresses, metal appliances and electronics at no charge, charges for coolant appliances and general garbage, and runs the free household hazardous waste site that Oregon and the region rely on.

Say whether the unit contains refrigerant when the pickup is arranged, because refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers are priced and handled differently and carry the tip fee. Metro Central takes metal appliances such as stoves, water heaters, microwaves, dishwashers, washers and dryers free, and charges for coolant appliances.
Covered electronics are free to recycle at Metro Central, which is an Oregon E-Cycles location, and a console television can also go out as a bulky item with the hauler.

The covered items at Metro Central are desktop and laptop computers, printers, televisions, monitors, tablets, keyboards and computer mice, and they can arrive intact or broken. These devices have their own state recycling programme, so they do not belong in the garbage or recycling carts.
Fitness machines are not named in the city rate schedule, so the hauler has to say whether the machine is a bulky item on the regular truck or a special collection.

Single family homes have garbage and recycling collected every Thursday, with yard debris on the same weekly service under the basic monthly charge. Containers go to the street by 6 a.m., three feet apart with the lids opening toward the street and at least three feet from cars, trees and mailboxes.
Garbage, recycling and yard debris are collected on all holidays except Christmas Day and New Year's Day. When the collection day falls on or after one of those two holidays, service is one day later that week, with Friday customers served on Saturday.
