Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and computer monitors

Accepted with preparation

A television must never go in the garbage, and it is free at a Metro transfer station under Oregon E-Cycles or charged per item through the hauler's bulky service.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Metro is an Oregon E-Cycles location and accepts desktop and laptop computers, printers, televisions, monitors, tablets, keyboards and computer mice, intact or broken, free of charge with a limit of seven items per person per day; a television booked instead through the hauler's bulky waste service is charged per item with the pick-up fee.
When & how
Take the set to Metro Central at 6161 NW 61st Ave in Portland or Metro South at 2001 Washington St in Oregon City, open to the public 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and closed on the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's days, or book the hauler's bulky pickup instead.
Get it ready
Keep the set whole or broken but complete, erase stored data, and never put a television in the curbside garbage or recycling because the county states that televisions must not be thrown in the garbage and the bulky service is the alternative for a household that cannot haul it.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Bulky items are booked, not left with the carts

A couch, mattress, appliance, television or tire set is booked with the certificated collection company that serves the address and is collected on a bulky day that may differ from the regular garbage day. The charge is a flat pick-up fee plus a published rate for each item by size and material, the pick-up fee is billed whether or not the items are on site, and anything not on the published list is priced by size and weight. Metro Central and Metro South take self-haul loads instead, with recyclables, metal appliances, up to four mattresses a day and Oregon E-Cycles electronics free.

Washington County Solid Waste & Recycling with certificated collection companies and Metro transfer stations

Book a bulky waste pickup with your certificated collection company

A household with a couch, mattress set, appliance, television, tires or other large item that will not fit in the cart.

Cost & conditions
From $16 for flat pick-up fee for each urban collection inside the Metro boundary, or $32.00 for a rural address, with the published per item rate added on top and billed whether or not the items are set out at the agreed time. Washington County addresses in the unincorporated area served by a certificated collection company; the companies are Pride Disposal, Republic Services, Swatco Sanitary Service, Walker Garbage and Recycling Service and WM.
Arrange it
Call the company that serves the address for a cost estimate and to book the pickup, then set the items out on the bulky collection day, which may differ from the normal garbage day.

The pick-up fee applies regardless of how many items are set out and is billed even if the items are not on site, televisions and tires must never go in the garbage, reusable items should be donated first, and items not on the published list are billed by size and weight instead of a listed rate.

Washington County Solid Waste & Recycling with certificated collection companies and Metro transfer stations

Haul the load to a Metro transfer station

A household that can carry its own garbage, recycling, yard debris, appliances, electronics, mattresses or tires instead of paying a pick-up fee.

Cost & conditions
From $51 for minimum garbage charge for loads up to 240 pounds at Metro Central or Metro South, with heavier loads charged a proportion of the per ton rate and a transaction fee on staffed public scales, while recyclables are free, metal appliances are free, coolant appliances are charged, up to four mattresses a customer a day are free and Oregon E-Cycles electronics are free up to seven items a day. Any household delivering its own load during public hours; all mixed waste generated in the Metro service area must go to a Metro-authorized facility.
Arrange it
Drive to Metro Central, 6161 NW 61st Ave in Portland, or Metro South, 2001 Washington St in Oregon City, both open to the general public 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, sort the load before arrival, and cover it to avoid the uncovered load charge.

Vehicles and anything with a drive motor, asbestos containing material outside the small hazardous waste allowance, burned material and wildfire ash, flat and built-up roofing, loads of liquids, petroleum contaminated soil, radioactive metals and electric vehicle batteries are refused, and customers are responsible for anything they leave behind, so improper dumping can bring asbestos testing costs and substantial fines.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

West Haven-Sylvan households have two ways to self haul. The nearest public transfer stations are Metro Central at 6161 NW 61st Ave in Portland and Metro South at 2001 Washington St in Oregon City, both open to the general public 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and both closed on the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's days. Recyclables are free, metal dishwashers, microwaves, water heaters, stoves, ovens, washers and dryers are free, coolant containing appliances and tires are charged, up to four mattresses or box springs a day are free, Oregon E-Cycles electronics such as computers, monitors, printers, televisions, tablets, keyboards and mice are free up to seven items a day, and general garbage pays a minimum charge up to 240 pounds and a per ton rate above that, with clean wood and sorted yard debris on lower rates. Household hazardous waste is free at the co-located facilities, limited to 35 gallons a day, and is taken at Metro Central Monday to Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at Metro South 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Washington County also lists other county drop-off sites, including Far West Recycling and Tualatin Valley Waste Recovery in Hillsboro, the Forest Grove Transfer Station, Pride Recycling Depot in Sherwood, and yard debris sites at Best Buy in Town, Grimms Fuel, Recology Organics and Woodco. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in West Haven-Sylvan.

How much does TV removal cost in West Haven-Sylvan?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in West Haven-Sylvan?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

The free route is a Metro transfer station, which is an Oregon E-Cycles location and takes televisions, monitors, computers, tablets, printers, keyboards and mice at no charge up to seven items per person per day, at Metro Central in Portland or Metro South in Oregon City.
