Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Get it ready
Break the machine down as far as it will go, keep loose weights with the frame so two people can lift it as the city's weight rule requires, and remove any battery, because batteries never belong in the trash or recycling and can be taken to the county household hazardous waste facility.
One oversized item a week, four containers with it
The city's weekly program takes one oversized item per household, which covers sofas, stuffed chairs, furniture, mattress and box spring sets and a roll of carpet no wider than four feet. Setting one out limits that week to four trash containers, the item may be no heavier than what two people can lift into a truck, and everything goes out after 6 p.m. the evening before collection and comes back in by 8 p.m. the day of collection.

Cost & conditions
The oversized item is part of the quarterly residential collection rate, printed as $85.80 a quarter for 2025 with a senior discount for residents 65 and older who own and occupy the home. No separate fee is published for one piece. Confirm the current rate with the city at (717) 291-4744.
Arrange it
Set the item out on the normal collection day after 6 p.m. the evening before, and keep that week's trash to four containers. Containers are stored to the side or rear of the property and taken in by 8 p.m. on collection day.
