Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment is not named anywhere on the city pages. A machine that fits the weekly bulk allowance may go out with it, and anything larger may fall under the roll-off and hauler route the city describes for big clean-outs, so the piece is a call to Public Works before it reaches the curb.

When & how
There is no collection day for a machine. If Public Works confirms it as the week's bulk item it goes out the evening before the assigned collection day, and otherwise it moves to a roll-off or hauler arrangement.
Get it ready
Take the machine down as far as it will come apart and keep the loose weights with it, drain anything powered by fluid, and keep it out of the recycling bin. Confirm the piece before setting it out, because the city fines households that put out more than the one bulk item a week.
Containers and bulk go out the evening before the zone day
Every address in Harrisburg is served once a week on its own weekday zone, and the containers go to the appointed collection location the evening before that day. No rate is published on the city pages for the transfer station on 19th Street, the roll-off container rental or the listed haulers, and the roll-off pricing sheet is an image with no readable figures. Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
