The project is done. Get your space back.

The new bathroom is ready, but the old vanity is still outside. A replaced door is taking up space you need. Put those leftover items on a pickup plan, with the price settled and updates through the final haul-away.

Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

  1. Arrange the removal work

Have the fixture safely detached and any plumbing or electrical connections handled by an appropriate professional. We do not remove installed fixtures or perform demolition.

  2. Keep the booked items separate

Have the fixtures empty and ready at ground level. Keep them apart from rubble, loose renovation materials, tools and anything you want to keep.

  3. Show the outdoor handoff

Use a permitted outdoor spot with a clear path. Add a location photo and notes on your order page so the right entrance and the right items are easy to identify.

Construction and demolition debris

Not on the regular city route

No city collection route for construction and demolition debris is published. The curbside rules are written around household material, and a project load has to be arranged privately.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no construction or demolition collection and no household rate for one, and the codified refuse rules could not be reached during this review. A project load has to be arranged with a private hauler or container company, so confirm the destination and the charge before work starts.
When & how
Order the container or hauler before the work produces debris rather than stacking material at the curb for the weekly route.
Get it ready
Keep construction material out of the garbage can, which is limited to a 32 gallon lidded can of household waste, and out of the recycling. Keep paint, solvents and other chemicals with the county household hazardous waste route instead.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Use your own lidded can and the city recycling container

Garbage cans are bought by the resident and must be no heavier than a 32 gallon can with a lid on it, while the city provides the recycling containers at 101 W Poplar St. Glass has to be wrapped thoroughly and marked as glass, and leaves must not be mixed in with household garbage.

Chemicals, bulbs and batteries never go in the cart

Household hazardous waste is not a curbside item. Lackawanna County runs a collection on Saturday October 31, 2026 at the Pavilion at Montage Mountain, 1000 Montage Mountain Road, open to county residents only with pre-registration required. Accepted material includes oil based paint, stains, thinners, solvents, poisons, pool and lawn treatments, automotive fluids with a per container limit, batteries other than electric vehicle batteries, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, propane tanks and liquid mercury, and latex paint is not accepted. Paint can also be dried out with kitty litter and then bagged.

Private hauler or container for a project load

A household or contractor with construction and demolition debris that the city refuse route does not take.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes no construction or demolition collection, so a private hauler or container company quotes the load and confirms the receiving site. Confirm the price and the destination before work starts.
Arrange it
Contact a private hauler or container company to deliver the container before the project produces debris, and keep chemicals out of the load.

Nothing in this category rides the weekly refuse route or the city's electronics events, and paint, solvents and other chemicals still have to go to the county household hazardous waste event with its pre-registration and county residency rules.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Scranton routes the awkward material to businesses and programmes rather than to a bulky appointment. Household garbage and commingled recycling go out weekly, with a one day delay after a weekday holiday, and larger household items go out with the same collection only when the truck has room and only if they contain no metal. Appliances are the clearest example of what that means: the city refuses metal bearing items at the curb and lists a scrap yard in Scranton plus a utility appliance programme instead, and the utility pickup is free for working refrigerators, freezers, mini fridges, room air conditioners and dehumidifiers with an active account at the address. Screens and computers go to the city's registered electronics recycling events or to a manufacturer programme collection site under state law. Household chemicals, bulbs, batteries and propane wait for the Lackawanna County collection at Montage Mountain, which needs pre-registration and is open to county residents only. Construction debris has no public route at all and needs a private container before the work starts. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Scranton.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Scranton?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Scranton?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Will Scranton take construction debris?

No city collection route is published for construction and demolition debris. The published curbside rules cover household garbage in a 32 gallon lidded can and the weekly recycling, and the hard to recycle list covers household items rather than project material, so a renovation load goes with a private hauler or container company and chemicals go to the county household hazardous waste event.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Scranton?

The Bureau of Refuse and Recycling inside the Department of Public Works runs the weekly garbage and commingled recycling collection. A missed pickup goes to the Public Works dispatcher at 570-348-4178, recycling containers are issued at 101 W Poplar St, and recycling questions go to recycle@scrantonpa.gov.Official guidance

Where do paint and chemicals go in Scranton?

To the Lackawanna County household hazardous waste collection, which runs on Saturday October 31, 2026 at the Pavilion at Montage Mountain, 1000 Montage Mountain Road, for county residents only with pre-registration required. Oil based paint, stains, thinners, solvents, poisons, pool and lawn treatments, automotive fluids, batteries other than electric vehicle batteries, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, propane tanks and liquid mercury are accepted, and latex paint is not. Paint can also be dried out with kitty litter and then bagged, and the city points residents to recycle@scrantonpa.gov for upcoming events.Official guidance
