Desks and bookshelves
Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

Florence writes furniture and other brown goods out of the yard waste rules: household and office furniture made of wood or metal parts is explicitly not accepted at the curb.
City cost & eligibility
The city charges nothing because it does not collect brown goods at the curb, and special on-call collection is written for yard waste only. Call Florence County Public Works on 843-665-3022 for the current site and any charge before you haul.

No city curbside collection. Route it to a Florence County drop-off site or a private hauler on your own schedule.
Get it ready
Keep furniture out of the yard waste pile, because the city will not separate it and the rules forbid depositing commercial or bulky debris as yard trash.
Yard waste must stay separate from household garbage, brown goods such as furniture and mattresses, white goods such as refrigerators and washers, tires, building materials, construction debris, recyclables and scrap metal. Mixing it in means the pile is not collected as yard waste.
Commercial building and remodeling contractors, landscapers, tree firms, roofers and clearing contractors may not deposit their debris for city collection, and the city is not responsible for construction, demolition or land-clearing waste originating from private property. Burning solid waste is prohibited.

Florence routes almost everything that is not garbage, recycling or yard waste to Florence County. Fifteen county drop-off sites run Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., taking aluminum, large appliances, cardboard, mixed paper, plastics 1 and 2, scrap metal, steel cans, used motor oil and tires at most locations, with electronics limited to four sites and tires refused at three. The city also runs a SCDHEC-permitted mulching facility at 1440 S. McCurdy Road where residents can collect free mulch on weekdays, and city fire stations take residential used motor oil with a five-gallon limit per trip. Can I get same-day furniture pickup in Florence?+
Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup and choose from the dates shown at checkout. Arrange to have the furniture outside according to your confirmation. You receive a text when your hauler is on the way and photos after collection.
Will you remove furniture from inside my apartment?+
Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange indoor carrying, including any interior stairs or elevator trip. We load and take away the furniture from an accessible outdoor location. Check your building’s rules and plan the route out before booking.
Can you take several different furniture items in one pickup?+
Yes. Add each piece and its quantity to one booking. A dining table and four chairs are five items; a separate mirror is not included with a dresser. You can mix eligible items from different rooms and review their combined total before paying.
Do I need to take furniture apart before pickup?+
You arrange any disassembly needed to move the furniture out of your home and into an accessible outdoor pickup spot. Dropcurb does not provide indoor disassembly or carrying. If you are unsure which catalog choice matches a dismantled or unusual piece, send a photo and ask before booking.
