City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no mattress rule and no per item charge, because bulky items ride the monthly pickup included with a city trash account, so confirm the set with Environmental Services at 615-452-2147 before it is placed at the street.
When & how
Call 615-452-2147 first. If the mattress is accepted it goes onto the monthly bulk list with the same Wednesday afternoon cutoff, and if it is not, the household asks the city where a mattress can go instead, since the county transfer station takes most waste.
Get it ready
Keep the set dry and whole, take the frame and headboard off because they are separate items, and never put bedding in the recycling container or the city recycling center, which take only the listed paper, metal, plastic and glass.

Construction and remodelling debris, cardboard boxes outside the move-in window, auto parts, tires, dirt, rock, concrete, bricks, gas tanks, hazardous waste, dead animals and small household items are refused, and a request made after the cutoff waits for the following month.
