Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Bulky collection is free and available weekly by appointment for appliances and furniture, while bagged household garbage follows the regular twice weekly route and is limited to one cubic yard at a time.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. The weekly bulky pickup carries no separate fee when a resident books it with Republic Services on 817-261-8812, and households that have moved to carts have bulky material up to two cubic yards collected each week without calling unless the item is an appliance, while an extra garbage cart is billed at 6.56 dollars a month.
When & how
Call 817-261-8812 to arrange a bulky pickup, and put bagged garbage out by 7 a.m. on your collection day, which the city's address lookup confirms along with the Wednesday recycling day.
Get it ready
Bag household trash in secured plastic bags rather than boxes or loose containers, keep the pile to appliances and furniture, and send carpet, fencing, building material, electronics and chemicals to the landfill, the electronics collection or a household chemical event instead of the curb.
Book the free bulky pickup before anything goes out
Bulky collection in Grand Prairie is arranged by phone and is free, and it runs weekly. Call Republic Services at 817-261-8812 and have the appliances or furniture at your normal collection point by 7 a.m. on the day of the pickup. The line can keep you waiting 20 to 30 minutes when call volume is high, and carpet, fencing and building material do not belong in the pile because the city routes that material to the landfill as construction and demolition waste.
Household garbage goes in secured plastic bags rather than boxes or open containers, and Republic Services collects one cubic yard of it at each visit on the twice weekly residential route. Everything has to be out by 7 a.m. on your collection day and no earlier than the evening before. Households that have moved to the city's carts set them out no earlier than 7 p.m. the night before, keep the lid closed and facing the street, leave three feet between the carts and anything else, allow 16 feet of overhead clearance, and bring the carts in before 7 p.m. on collection day.
A resident load at the Grand Prairie Landfill needs a current Texas license showing a Grand Prairie address and a water utility bill that matches it, and a bill with a termination notice is not accepted. A household member who delivers a residential load gets five free loads in a year and pays the published charge on each load after that. Loads from apartments, mobile homes and townhomes with no curbside service are billed at the commercial rate, clean dirt is only accepted Monday to Friday by appointment, and the landfill refuses liquids, lead acid batteries, used oil filters, pesticides, PCBs, CFCs and other regulated waste.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Arrange it

Self-haul to the Grand Prairie Landfill
Residents with construction and demolition material, appliances, tires, electronics or a bulky load they would rather deliver themselves.
Cost & conditions
No charge. A residential load delivered by a household member is free five times a year with a current Grand Prairie water bill and a matching Texas license, and each later load is charged, while commercial loads and loads from apartments, mobile homes and townhomes with no curbside service are billed at the commercial rate of 40 dollars per ton with a 10 dollar minimum.
Arrange it
Load the material, bring a current Texas license showing a Grand Prairie address and a matching water utility bill, and drive to 1102 MacArthur Boulevard on a weekday or Saturday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The landfill refuses liquids, lead acid batteries, used oil filters, pesticides, PCBs, CFCs, whole tires and other regulated waste, clean dirt is only taken Monday to Friday by appointment after testing, a bill showing a termination notice is not accepted as proof of residence, and loads from apartments or townhomes that pay no curbside rate are charged commercially.

Trash Off weekends for unlimited free trips
Residents with a large cleanout, including construction and demolition material, who can wait for one of the two city Trash Off dates.
Cost & conditions
No charge. During a Trash Off event residents may make an unlimited number of free trips to the landfill, where the usual allowance is five free loads a year, and proof of residence is a current water bill together with a driver's license.
Arrange it
Bring the load to 1102 MacArthur Boulevard on one of the published Trash Off dates and show a current water bill and driver's license.
Apartments, mobile homes and townhomes that pay no curbside garbage rate are charged the commercial rate of 40 dollars per ton for waste and 22.50 dollars per ton for clean brush or wood, each with a 10 dollar minimum per trip, tires carry their own per tire charge, computers, printers and fax machines are taken from residential customers only, and the rest of the landfill rules still apply.
Most Grand Prairie residents never need a trip to the landfill, because appliances and furniture such as washers, refrigerators, sofas and chairs come off the curb on a free weekly bulky collection that is booked with Republic Services on 817-261-8812. The exceptions are what the city calls construction and demolition waste, which covers carpet, fencing and building material and has to go to the Grand Prairie Landfill on MacArthur Boulevard, where a household member delivering a residential load gets five free loads a year and pays the published charge on each later load. Electronics are free at the same landfill during normal hours, and a resident who has no utility bill can use the free electronics events at City Hall East instead. Household chemicals and paint go to a registration-only collection event at City Hall or to the Fort Worth collection center with a voucher, one visit a household each year, and mattresses, exercise machines and tires all need a call before they are moved because the published pages do not name them or contradict themselves about the conditions. Before you book
A few things worth knowing.
Bulk junk removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Grand Prairie.
How much does bulk junk removal cost in Grand Prairie?+
A trash bag is $59 as the first item and $10 additional. A filled household box is $59 as the first item. Add your actual items and quantities to see the combined price before booking. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; any applicable sales tax is shown before payment.
Can you pick up bags of junk today?+
Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the booked bags and boxes outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive pickup updates and completion photos; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.
Do I count every object inside a bag or box?+
No. Count the filled bags or boxes using the matching choice. Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.
Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?+
Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.
Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?+
Yes. Select the bags and boxes, then add each larger item using its own catalog choice. The booking shows one combined price for the selected items. Move everything to an accessible outdoor spot before pickup; indoor carrying and sorting are not included. Keep anything you want to retain apart from the booked items and identify what goes in your photos and notes.
How does the free bulky item pickup work?+
Call Republic Services at 817-261-8812 to schedule a curbside pickup, which is free and available weekly, and have the items out by 7 a.m. on the pickup day. Appliances and furniture such as washers, refrigerators, sofas and chairs qualify, while carpet, fencing and building materials do not, because the city treats those as construction and demolition waste headed for the landfill.Official guidance
What will Grand Prairie not take as a bulky item?+
Carpet, fencing and building material are outside the bulky program, because the city classifies them as construction and demolition waste and sends them to the Grand Prairie Landfill. Electronics, household chemicals and tires also travel on their own routes, since the landfill takes electronics free, chemicals go to a collection event, and tires need the landfill line to confirm the load.Official guidance
How many free trips to the Grand Prairie Landfill does a household get?+
Five free residential loads a year when a household member delivers them with a current Grand Prairie water bill and a matching Texas license, and each load after that carries the published charge. Trash Off weekends allow unlimited free trips with the same proof of residence, while apartments, mobile homes and townhomes that pay no curbside garbage rate are billed at the commercial rate.Official guidance
What happens when the household trash will not fit the bag limit?+
The residential route takes one cubic yard of bagged garbage at each visit, so anything larger belongs on the bulky pickup, which is free and booked on 817-261-8812, as long as it is an appliance or a piece of furniture. Households that have moved to the city carts can request an extra cart for a monthly charge, and the landfill is the other route, with five free residential loads a year.Official guidance
