City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included with residential collection inside the four bulky items a week limit. At the landfill, appliances and metals are recycled and must be separated from other waste, with the vehicle fees still applying to the load.
When & how
Put the appliance out by 7 a.m. or after 6 p.m. the night before the weekly collection day, or take it to the Hunter Ferrell Landfill during posted hours.
Get it ready
Empty and secure the unit, and keep the appliance out of a larger pile of construction or demolition material, since that material is never collected curbside. At the landfill, separate appliances and metals from the rest of the load so they can be recycled.
Trash is collected twice each week, while recycling, brush and up to four bulky items are collected once a week on the same day. When a City holiday falls on the collection day, only one trash pickup happens that week and the recycling, brush and bulky service waits until the following week.
Brush and bulky piles sit in an area free of parked cars, overhead lines, mailboxes and fire hydrants, with piles separated by two to three feet of unobstructed space and waste beyond the weekly limit stored out of public view until the next collection day.
Only waste generated inside Irving is accepted, with matching photo identification and a current utility bill or lease. Salvaging is not allowed, individuals unload their own material, children stay in the vehicle, chemicals and flammable liquids are refused, and roofing loads need a permit with the name and address matching the driver's licence.
