Monthly bulk week and the weekly small bulk allowance

Accepted with preparation

DeSoto gives a household two published bulky routes. Once a month, in the quadrant the city assigns to the address, up to ten cubic yards of bulk or brush comes off the curb from the Friday evening before the week until everything is cleared by Friday night. Every other week, on the household's second collection day, one large item or up to three cubic yards of small bulk and bundled brush goes out beside the cart.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Households with an active DeSoto water account, because the sanitation charges that fund the programme ride on the water bill and the city states that only active accounts receive bulk and brush collection. Each account gets one large pickup of up to ten cubic yards a month, twelve in a year, and any pickup beyond that is arranged directly with Republic.
When & how
The monthly week begins on the first Monday of the first full week of the month for the assigned quadrant, with the pile allowed out after 6 pm the Friday before, ready by 7 am on the Monday, and cleared by 6 pm that Friday. The weekly allowance goes out on the second collection day of the week, which is Thursday or Friday depending on the address.
Get it ready
Keep the pile inside ten cubic yards on the monthly week and three cubic yards or one large item on the weekly route, place it at the front curb as close to the street as possible, and never on the side of a corner property. Leave room around vehicles, trees, fences, storm drains and mailboxes, and sixteen feet of clearance above the pile. Vehicle parts, tires, batteries, carpet, flammables, hazardous waste, electronic waste, older mirrored televisions and all construction material are refused.

Washers, dryers, refrigerators and other appliances

Accepted with preparation

Appliances ride the bulk allowance with one published condition attached to the cooling units. Washers and dryers are named as large bulk examples, and window air conditioning units, refrigerators and freezers are accepted once the freon has been removed and tagged by an appliance or HVAC technician.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Households with an active water account on the city's bulky collection, which carries no per item charge inside the published limits. A unit holding refrigerant has to be emptied and tagged by an appliance or HVAC technician before it is set out.
When & how
Put the appliance out in the assigned monthly quadrant week with the rest of the pile, or send a small unit with the weekly small bulk on the second collection day, and leave everything at the curb until the crew clears it.
Get it ready
Empty the appliance, secure the doors, and for anything that held refrigerant have a technician remove the freon and tag the unit before it reaches the curb. Keep appliances out of the recycling cart and out of the small bulk pile if they are large enough to be a bulk item on their own.

The second collection day carries one large item or three cubic yards

Between the monthly weeks a household may put out either one large bulky item or up to three cubic yards of small bulk and bundled brush on the second collection day of the week, which is Thursday or Friday only, placed next to the trash cart with up to five extra bags of household trash. Three cubic yards is about the size of three kitchen stoves side by side.

Front curb only, with room around and above the pile

Piles go at the front curb as close to the street as possible, never on the side of a corner property, and they have to stay clear of vehicles, trees, fences, storm drains and mailboxes with sixteen feet of open space above them. Anything over the ten cubic yard monthly limit is the property owner's responsibility to remove.

City of DeSoto bulk and brush pickup page with the new programme starting January 1 2026, the schedule beginning on the first Monday of the first full week of each month, the four quadrant map for the assigned week, the ten cubic yard limit with over-limit material left to the property owner, the curb set-out after 6 pm the Friday before the collection week, the 7 am Monday readiness rule, the completion and clearance by 6 pm on the Friday of the week, the front curb placement with the corner property restriction and the clearance requirements around vehicles trees fences storm drains mailboxes and sixteen feet of overhead space, the refusal of vehicle parts tires batteries carpet flammables hazardous waste electronic waste and older mirrored televisions with the hump in the back, the refusal of all construction material including lumber drywall paneling tile flooring siding concrete sheet rock bricks glass and carpet or area rugs, and the missed pickup route through the Action Center

Tires, batteries, carpet, electronics and construction never ride the bulk truck

The bulk and brush program refuses vehicle parts, tires, batteries, carpet, flammables, hazardous waste, electronic waste and older mirrored televisions with a hump in the back, along with lumber, drywall, paneling, tile, flooring, siding, concrete, sheet rock, bricks, glass and carpet or area rugs. One small do it yourself project, such as a toilet, a small cabinet and sink, fence panels, interior doors, or molding and baseboards cut into four foot lengths, is named on the city's large bulk list and fits inside the ten cubic yard allowance. Hazardous products and computers and cell phones go to the Dallas County center instead, and a larger project load needs its own container.

An active water account drives the service, and only Republic carts are emptied

Bulk and brush collection is attached to the water account because the sanitation charge rides on the water bill, and the city states that only properties with an active account receive it, with material at an inactive account referred to code enforcement. Recycle carts are included in the monthly utility bill, only Republic carts are serviced, and trash goes out by 7 am on the Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday schedule with recycling every Wednesday.

City of DeSoto sanitation service collected by Republic Services, with household hazardous waste through the Dallas County network

Use the monthly quadrant bulk and brush week

A household with up to ten cubic yards of bulk or brush, including a sofa, a mattress or an appliance, ready for its assigned week of the month.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Households with an active water account, since the city funds the program through the sanitation charge on the water bill and states that only active accounts receive bulk and brush collection. Each account gets one pickup of up to ten cubic yards a month and twelve in a year.
Arrange it
Find the quadrant on the city map, put the pile at the front curb after 6 pm the Friday before the assigned week, have it ready by 7 am on the Monday, and leave it until the crew clears everything by 6 pm that Friday.

Ten cubic yards is the maximum, anything over it is the property owner's responsibility, and vehicle parts, tires, batteries, carpet, flammables, hazardous waste, electronic waste, mirrored televisions and all construction material are refused. Beyond twelve large pickups in a year the account holder arranges extra service with Republic.

Open the DeSoto bulk and brush page

Add a weekly small bulk set-out

A household with one large item, a few small pieces of furniture, bundled brush or extra bags to clear between the monthly weeks.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Households with an active water account on the city program, which includes the weekly allowance without a separate charge per item.
Arrange it
Put the item or the pile beside the trash cart on the second collection day of the week, which for DeSoto is Thursday or Friday depending on the address, and keep it inside three cubic yards.

One large item or three cubic yards of small bulk and bundled brush, with up to five extra bags of household trash per collection date. The same categories refused in the monthly week are refused here, so electronics, tires, batteries, carpet and construction material still do not go out.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in DeSoto is mostly a question of which bulk week a household is in. The city assigns every address to a quadrant and collects that quadrant once a month across a Monday to Friday window, with up to ten cubic yards of bulk or brush allowed, material out after 6 pm the Friday before and ready by 7 am Monday, all cleared by 6 pm Friday. Between those weeks a household can still put out one large item or up to three cubic yards of small bulk and bundled brush on the second collection day of the week, which is Thursday or Friday, along with up to five extra bags of household trash. Both routes ride the sanitation charge on the water bill and both require an active water account, and an account gets twelve large pickups a year before extra service has to be arranged with Republic. Appliances are welcome inside the limits once a technician has removed and tagged the refrigerant on a window air conditioner, refrigerator or freezer. What the curb will not take goes two other ways: household chemicals, batteries, fluorescent tubes, automotive fluids and computers and cell phones go to the Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center at 11234 Plano Road in Dallas with a driver's license and a DeSoto utility bill, and construction material, which the bulky program refuses completely, needs a container arranged through the DeSoto Action Center on 972-274-2489 before the work starts. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Appliance removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in DeSoto.

How much does appliance removal cost in DeSoto?

A full-size household refrigerator is $109 as a single item. A washing machine is $109, and a dryer is $109. Other appliances have their own catalog prices. Choose each item to see your exact total before booking; disposal and recycling costs are included in the item price.

Can I get same-day appliance pickup in DeSoto?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Your pickup is scheduled for a day rather than an exact arrival appointment, and we text you before arrival. Have the appliance disconnected and ready outside by your pickup readiness time.

Can you take a washing machine and dryer in one pickup?

Yes. Add one Washing machine and one Dryer so both units are included in the price. They are separate items, even when you bought them as a set. If yours is a single combined unit or the machines still need to be unstacked, contact us before booking to confirm the scope.

Will you disconnect my appliance or carry it out?

Dropcurb picks up appliances that are already disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange uninstallation, utility disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Use a qualified professional for gas, hardwired or plumbing connections when needed. We handle loading and haul-away from the outdoor pickup spot.

Can I book if the delivery company did not take my old appliance?

Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. How much bulk waste can go out in DeSoto each week and each month?

Two tracks. On the household's second collection day of the week, which is Thursday or Friday, it can put out either one large bulky item or up to three cubic yards of small bulk and bundled brush beside the cart, along with up to five extra bags of household trash. Once a month, in the quadrant week the city assigns, up to ten cubic yards of bulk or brush comes off the curb from the Friday before the week until it is cleared by Friday night.Official guidance

Can a refrigerator or air conditioner go out with the bulk pile in DeSoto?

Yes, once the freon has been removed and the unit has been tagged by an appliance or HVAC technician. The city names window air conditioning units, refrigerators and freezers in its large bulk list along with washers and dryers, and the appliance then goes out in the assigned monthly quadrant week inside the ten cubic yard limit.Official guidance

Who collects trash and bulk items in DeSoto?

Republic Services collects for the city as the primary waste provider, and the DeSoto Action Center handles questions, missed pickups and project containers on 972-274-CITY, which is 972-274-2489. Trash runs twice a week on Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday, recycling runs every Wednesday, and the bulk and brush program is attached to the household water account because the sanitation charge rides on that bill.Official guidance

How do I know which week my bulk collection falls in?

The city divides DeSoto into four quadrants that a map assigns by address, and each quadrant is served once a month in order: quadrant one the first week of the month, quadrant two the second week, quadrant three the third week and quadrant four the fourth week, with the cycle repeating the next month. The schedule begins on the first Monday of the first full week, and the Republic Services app carries the dates, reminders and extra service requests.Official guidance

Is there a limit on how many large bulk pickups a household gets?

Yes. Each account holder is allowed one large brush or bulk pickup of up to ten cubic yards per month, which works out to twelve pickups a year, and once the account reaches that limit any further pickup has to be arranged directly with Republic. The pickups are tied to the water account rather than to a neighbor, so a scheduled week cannot be given away.Official guidance
