Monthly bulk week and the weekly small bulk allowance
Accepted with preparation
DeSoto gives a household two published bulky routes. Once a month, in the quadrant the city assigns to the address, up to ten cubic yards of bulk or brush comes off the curb from the Friday evening before the week until everything is cleared by Friday night. Every other week, on the household's second collection day, one large item or up to three cubic yards of small bulk and bundled brush goes out beside the cart.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Households with an active DeSoto water account, because the sanitation charges that fund the programme ride on the water bill and the city states that only active accounts receive bulk and brush collection. Each account gets one large pickup of up to ten cubic yards a month, twelve in a year, and any pickup beyond that is arranged directly with Republic.
When & how
The monthly week begins on the first Monday of the first full week of the month for the assigned quadrant, with the pile allowed out after 6 pm the Friday before, ready by 7 am on the Monday, and cleared by 6 pm that Friday. The weekly allowance goes out on the second collection day of the week, which is Thursday or Friday depending on the address.
Get it ready
Keep the pile inside ten cubic yards on the monthly week and three cubic yards or one large item on the weekly route, place it at the front curb as close to the street as possible, and never on the side of a corner property. Leave room around vehicles, trees, fences, storm drains and mailboxes, and sixteen feet of clearance above the pile. Vehicle parts, tires, batteries, carpet, flammables, hazardous waste, electronic waste, older mirrored televisions and all construction material are refused.
A mattress is named directly in the city's large bulk examples, so it leaves on the monthly quadrant pickup inside the ten cubic yard limit rather than going to a hauler.

When & how

The second collection day carries one large item or three cubic yards
Between the monthly weeks a household may put out either one large bulky item or up to three cubic yards of small bulk and bundled brush on the second collection day of the week, which is Thursday or Friday only, placed next to the trash cart with up to five extra bags of household trash. Three cubic yards is about the size of three kitchen stoves side by side.
Front curb only, with room around and above the pile
Piles go at the front curb as close to the street as possible, never on the side of a corner property, and they have to stay clear of vehicles, trees, fences, storm drains and mailboxes with sixteen feet of open space above them. Anything over the ten cubic yard monthly limit is the property owner's responsibility to remove.
Tires, batteries, carpet, electronics and construction never ride the bulk truck
The bulk and brush program refuses vehicle parts, tires, batteries, carpet, flammables, hazardous waste, electronic waste and older mirrored televisions with a hump in the back, along with lumber, drywall, paneling, tile, flooring, siding, concrete, sheet rock, bricks, glass and carpet or area rugs. One small do it yourself project, such as a toilet, a small cabinet and sink, fence panels, interior doors, or molding and baseboards cut into four foot lengths, is named on the city's large bulk list and fits inside the ten cubic yard allowance. Hazardous products and computers and cell phones go to the Dallas County center instead, and a larger project load needs its own container.
An active water account drives the service, and only Republic carts are emptied
Bulk and brush collection is attached to the water account because the sanitation charge rides on the water bill, and the city states that only properties with an active account receive it, with material at an inactive account referred to code enforcement. Recycle carts are included in the monthly utility bill, only Republic carts are serviced, and trash goes out by 7 am on the Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday schedule with recycling every Wednesday.
