A clear count. An exact price.

Count the bags and boxes, not everything inside.

A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.

Filled bags and boxes

Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.

Empty cardboard and containers

Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.

Furniture and other larger items

Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Bulky items and weekly collection

Accepted with preparation

Garbage is collected twice a week in city supplied bags and heavy trash runs on its own zone schedule for anything the bags cannot take.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no collection rate for either route, and the only published charge is the 7.22 dollar additional roll of garbage bags from Utility Billing in City Hall, so call Public Works at 281-471-9650 with any service question.
When & how
Garbage goes to the curb by 7 a.m. on either the Monday and Thursday or the Tuesday and Friday cycle, and heavy trash goes out by 7 a.m. on the first scheduled collection day for the zone and no earlier than five days before.
Get it ready
Bag all garbage with securely tied bags free of sharp objects and no heavier than 40 pounds, keep boxes and supermarket bags out of the garbage, keep brush and yard waste separate from appliances and furniture, and keep rocks, bricks, ceramic tile, concrete, dirt, ashes, paint and hazardous materials out of every pile.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

The heavy trash pile stops at 10 cubic yards

A heavy trash pile may not exceed 10 cubic yards, which the city describes as about 6 feet wide by 6 feet high by 8 feet long. If a pile is larger the city collects only 10 cubic yards and leaves the remainder, which can put the resident in violation for early set out, so the excess has to wait for the next scheduled collection or go to a private contractor at the resident's expense.

Heavy trash definition, schedule, pile limit, set out rules and refusals

Where and when heavy trash goes out

Heavy trash goes behind the curb rather than in the street, in front of the resident's own property and not across the street or in front of a neighbor, away from fences, mailboxes, low wires and low limbs, out by 7 a.m. on the first scheduled collection day and no earlier than five days before. The city is divided into six zones, the truck makes a single pass in the two day window, brush and yard waste stay separate from appliances and furniture, small items go in bags or boxes, and a refrigerator or freezer has to be empty with the doors removed or tied shut.

Bag and weight rules for household garbage

Garbage goes out by 7 a.m. on the twice weekly cycle, everything bagged with securely tied bags free of sharp objects and no heavier than 40 pounds, and anything over 40 pounds is left for the heavy trash crew. Crews do not grab loose garbage, garbage does not go in boxes or supermarket bags, yard debris is not household garbage, and the city provides three rolls of garbage bags each February with additional rolls from Utility Billing.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

La Porte households put bagged household garbage out twice a week on either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday, with no bag over 40 pounds, and everything else goes on the heavy trash pile by 7 a.m. on the first scheduled day for the zone, inside the 10 cubic yard limit and no earlier than five days before. Because there is no curbside recycling, recyclables, electronics, rechargeable and automotive batteries, dry hardened paint cans, light bulbs, motor oil, oil filters, cooking oil and antifreeze go to the Recycle Center at 12201 N. C St., brush and yard waste can be dropped at Public Works at 2963 N 23rd Street after signing in, and the city household hazardous waste event takes materials such as large tires, appliances, flammables and gas cylinders that the center refuses. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Bulk junk removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in La Porte.

How much does bulk junk removal cost in La Porte?

A trash bag is $59 as the first item and $10 additional. A filled household box is $59 as the first item. Add your actual items and quantities to see the combined price before booking. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; any applicable sales tax is shown before payment.

Can you pick up bags of junk today?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the booked bags and boxes outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive pickup updates and completion photos; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.

Do I count every object inside a bag or box?

No. Count the filled bags or boxes using the matching choice. Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.

Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?

Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.

Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?

Yes. Select the bags and boxes, then add each larger item using its own catalog choice. The booking shows one combined price for the selected items. Move everything to an accessible outdoor spot before pickup; indoor carrying and sorting are not included. Keep anything you want to retain apart from the booked items and identify what goes in your photos and notes.

What are the La Porte garbage and heavy trash limits?

Garbage is collected twice a week on either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday, bagged and tied with no bag over 40 pounds and nothing loose for the crew to grab, and the city provides three rolls of garbage bags each February with additional rolls sold at Utility Billing. Heavy trash covers everything that is not household garbage, including appliances, brush, building debris and small car tires, on a six zone schedule from January 5 to December 29, 2026, with a 10 cubic yard pile limit and one pass of the truck.Official guidance
