City cost & eligibility
No construction rate is published, and the city suggests a private contractor for a load it will not take, so call Public Works at 281-471-9650 and confirm the material against the pile limit, or use one of the private debris removal services the city lists.
When & how
Small building debris that is not on the refused list can go on the heavy trash pile by 7 a.m. on the first scheduled day for the zone, inside the 10 cubic yard limit, and anything beyond that has to go to a private contractor at the resident's expense.
Get it ready
Keep rocks, bricks, ceramic tile, concrete, dirt and ashes out of the pile, keep the load within 10 cubic yards, keep it behind the curb in front of the home, and keep it separate from brush and yard waste.
A heavy trash pile may not exceed 10 cubic yards, which the city describes as about 6 feet wide by 6 feet high by 8 feet long. If a pile is larger the city collects only 10 cubic yards and leaves the remainder, which can put the resident in violation for early set out, so the excess has to wait for the next scheduled collection or go to a private contractor at the resident's expense.
Heavy trash goes behind the curb rather than in the street, in front of the resident's own property and not across the street or in front of a neighbor, away from fences, mailboxes, low wires and low limbs, out by 7 a.m. on the first scheduled collection day and no earlier than five days before. The city is divided into six zones, the truck makes a single pass in the two day window, brush and yard waste stay separate from appliances and furniture, small items go in bags or boxes, and a refrigerator or freezer has to be empty with the doors removed or tied shut.

Arrange it
Put bagged garbage out by 7 a.m. on the Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday cycle, check the heavy trash zone and dates on the published 2026 map, and place the heavy trash pile behind the curb by 7 a.m. on the first scheduled day for the zone.
The garbage bags cannot exceed 40 pounds, the heavy trash pile cannot exceed 10 cubic yards, the truck makes one pass, and rocks, bricks, ceramic tile, concrete, dirt, ashes, paint and hazardous materials are refused at the curb.
La Porte households put bagged household garbage out twice a week on either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday, with no bag over 40 pounds, and everything else goes on the heavy trash pile by 7 a.m. on the first scheduled day for the zone, inside the 10 cubic yard limit and no earlier than five days before. Because there is no curbside recycling, recyclables, electronics, rechargeable and automotive batteries, dry hardened paint cans, light bulbs, motor oil, oil filters, cooking oil and antifreeze go to the Recycle Center at 12201 N.
