When & how
Ask before the address's brush and bulk month, because the collection runs every other month and a refusal would mean waiting for the next service week.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and in the bulk pile rather than the carts, and keep it clear of the leaves and brush pile. If the hauler will not take it, an alternative is the paid special pickup or a drop-off load at the transfer station inside the twelve cubic yard allowance.
Bulk runs every other month, on your side of Pleasant Run Road
Brush and bulk are collected every other month rather than every week. Households north of Pleasant Run Road are serviced in odd months and households south of it in even months, and the material has to be set out and ready by 7 a.m. on the Monday of the service week. A household that cannot wait can drop up to twelve cubic yards at the hauler's transfer station instead, with proof of residency.
Trash goes out bagged inside the grey 95 gallon cart, and recyclables go out empty, clean, dry and loose inside the blue 95 gallon cart, because bagged recyclables are refused. Carts stay at least three feet apart from each other and from obstacles such as mailboxes, cars, fences, gas meters and ditches, sit where the driveway meets the street with the wheels toward the residence, and have their lids closed.

Every other month only, and the acceptable list is specific: appliances, furniture, toys and yard tools tagged as bulk items, bundled carpet in four foot lengths, fence panels up to four by six feet, bagged leaves and loose brush. Construction and remodeling debris, household chemicals, tires, batteries and propane are refused, and a refrigerator or freezer must be tagged certifying removal of refrigerants.
