The local disposal guide
Laredo runs its own collection, with garbage, recycling and lawn clippings once a week in the city carts and a brush route on a five day rotating schedule for households that pay the residential garbage fee. Bulky items are the city's appointment service: households paying the garbage fee get two free collections a year, each taking up to four items, and the acceptable list names furniture, mattresses, box springs, carpets, swing sets, plastic pools, large toys, bicycles and large household appliances. Anything past those limits is charged on the published per item schedule, and the City of Laredo Landfill on State Highway 359 is the second route, taking household loads for a couple of dollars on a weekday and free on Saturdays up to a ton, along with tires, used motor oil, mulch and the household hazardous waste drop-off for batteries, computers, paints and other chemicals. Televisions and monitors are the exception: the city refuses electronic waste in the bulky pile by name.

Large household appliances are named in the city's acceptable bulky item list, and the same page and the city FAQ give a second route: residents can take appliances to the landfill with identification and a matching utility bill, where a load under two thousand pounds costs a couple of dollars on a weekday and nothing on Saturdays.
Electronic waste is refused on the city's brush and bulky route by name, including televisions, monitors and computer equipment. The documented destination is the household hazardous waste drop-off site at the City of Laredo Landfill, which the city describes as taking batteries, computers, paints and other hazardous materials for residents, so a television in particular has to be confirmed.
Laredo prices construction and demolition debris as its own service. Removal of wood, sheet rock, carpet, siding and other inert waste is offered to any residential or commercial account that requests it, at a minimum charge for the first five cubic yards with each additional cubic yard priced separately, and the same material is refused in the garbage cart.
Exercise equipment is not named in Laredo's acceptable bulky item list, which names furniture, mattresses, box springs, carpets, swing sets, plastic pools, large toys, bicycles and large household appliances. A machine therefore has to be confirmed with the city before it is set out.

Tires are refused in the garbage cart and routed to the City of Laredo Landfill. Residents can bring up to four passenger tires a day at no cost with identification and a city utility bill matching the address, while commercial accounts pay per passenger tire, 18 wheeler tires cost more and tractor trailer or special size tires are charged by the ton.
Household chemicals go to the city's own drop-off site at the landfill rather than the curb. The City of Laredo Environmental Department runs the site for batteries, computers, paints and other hazardous materials, for residential households only, and used motor oil has its own free drop-offs at the landfill, a fire station and the Public Works yard.
