Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Special rules apply

Midland publishes no local electronics collection and does not name electronics on either the curbside pickup list or the drop-off accepted list. What it does publish is a referral to the state manufacturer take-back programmes for televisions and computers.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no local electronics site and no electronics price, and it points residents to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality pages for recycling televisions and computers, which describe manufacturer take-back programmes offering free recycling to Texas residents. Confirm the current programme and the nearest participating retailer or site before the device leaves the house.
When & how
Use the state manufacturer take-back programme that the city refers to, rather than the alley or a drop-off point, since neither the curbside list nor the accepted list at the citizen sites names electronics.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before handover, remove stands and cables, and keep the device out of the alley container and out of the recycling stream, which takes cardboard, paper, plastics numbered 1 and 2 and aluminum only. Keep batteries and other hazardous material out of the device load.
Recycling page with the three resident drop-off sites and their hours, the household single-family residency rule, the bar on commercial waste and paid haulers, the single-axle trailer limit, the accepted bulky item, white goods, recyclable and brush lists, the refused construction, concrete, dirt, rock, tire and hazardous lists and the state electronics take-back referralTrash service page with the two residential collection patterns, the individual cart service and alley containers, the prohibited items covering tires, vehicle batteries, barrels of oil, tree limbs and construction debris, the yard waste drop-off address, the drying rule for paint, the charged 30 cubic yard construction containers and the free scheduled furniture and appliance pickup with its named item list

Bulky pickup and resident drop-off

Accepted with preparation

Midland gives a household two bulky routes: a free scheduled curbside pickup for furniture and appliances, and three resident drop-off points that take bulky items, white goods, recyclables and brush. The city publishes more detail here than most, including exactly where the pile goes.

City cost & eligibility
The city states that residential furniture and appliance pickup carries no additional charge when it is arranged on 432-685-7278. The citizen drop-off points take household material from residents of single-family homes, single-axle trailer loads only, and publish no fee, so confirm any charge there. Construction containers are the charged exception and are billed to the water account.
When & how
For the pickup, call 432-685-7278 to set the date, then put the items in the alley in the city right of way, behind the home rather than next to the dumpster, with collections running by date of call. For a drop-off, the Citizens Collection Station at 4100 Smith Road and the Citizens Convenience Center at 6400 W. Highway 80 are open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Get it ready
Keep bulky items behind the home in the alley and clear of the container, because the city will not collect from private property and the automated arm needs the can reachable. Keep prohibited material out of every load: tires, vehicle batteries, barrels of oil, tree limbs and construction debris are barred from the alley, and commercial waste, construction material, fencing, concrete, dirt, rock, tires and hazardous waste are barred from the drop-off points.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

The pile goes in the alley, behind the home, not beside the dumpster

Midland collects residential garbage twice a week on either a Monday and Thursday or a Tuesday and Friday route, with individual curbside cart service and one alley container for every four to five residents. Large items follow different instructions. The city states that they must be placed in the alley in the city right of way, behind the home, and explicitly that the pile should not sit next to the dumpster, because the collection is scheduled with the Solid Waste Division and runs by date of call. The city also states that it will not go onto private property, so a pile inside a gate or in a carport is out of reach.

Tires, batteries, oil, tree limbs and construction debris never go in the alley

The city names the material it will not collect: tires, vehicle batteries, barrels of oil and related materials, tree limbs and construction debris. It states that unauthorized disposal of those items is treated as illegal dumping, which puts the responsibility on the household rather than on the hauler. The citizen drop-off points add their own refusals, barring commercial waste of any type, construction material of any type, fencing, concrete, dirt, rock, tires and hazardous waste, and they refuse loads from landscapers, contractors and anyone paid to haul residential material. Yard waste has its own route to the Citizens Collection Station at 4100 Smith Road, and paint should be spread on old wood or cardboard to dry before it goes into the alley container.

The citizen sites are for households, not for haulers

The Citizens Collection Station at 4100 Smith Road, the Citizens Convenience Center at 6400 W. Highway 80 and Butt's Recycling Center at 26 W. Industrial Loop take plastics numbered 1 and 2, paper, cardboard and aluminum, and the two citizen sites also take bulky items such as household furniture and mattresses, white goods such as stoves, water heaters, washers and dryers, and brush such as tree trimmings and yard trimmings. The citizen sites are reserved for City of Midland residents hauling household items or recyclables from their own single-family homes, commercial waste of any type is refused, anyone receiving payment to haul material from a residential site is refused, only single-axle trailer loads are accepted, landscapers and contractors are refused, and loads have to be secure. Butt's is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the two citizen sites run Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Call for the free furniture and appliance pickup

A household with a couch, chair, bed frame, most household furniture, a freezer, an air conditioning unit, a barbecue grill, a swing set, patio furniture, a water heater, a washer, a dryer or a refrigerator.

Cost & conditions
No charge. The city states that residential furniture and appliance pickup carries no additional charge. The pickup is arranged with the Solid Waste Division on 432-685-7278 and collected by date of call.
Arrange it
Call 432-685-7278 to set the pickup date, then place the items in the alley in the city right of way behind the home. The city states that it will not go onto private property, so the pile has to be reachable from the alley.

The route is limited to the named categories, with tires, vehicle batteries, barrels of oil, tree limbs and construction debris barred from the alley and unauthorized disposal treated as illegal dumping. Electronics are not named on the list, so a television or computer needs the state take-back route instead, and the refrigerant question for a cooling unit has to be confirmed first.

Drive the load to a citizen drop-off point

A city household with bulky items, a mattress, white goods, brush or recyclables that would rather be driven than scheduled.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes no fee for the drop-off points. What it publishes is the eligibility: City of Midland residents hauling household items or recyclables from their own single-family homes, single-axle trailer loads only, no commercial waste and no paid haulers. Confirm the load and any charge on 432-685-7278.
Arrange it
The Citizens Collection Station is at 4100 Smith Road and the Citizens Convenience Center is at 6400 W. Highway 80, both open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Butt's Recycling Center at 26 W. Industrial Loop takes the recyclable streams on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Commercial waste of any type, construction material of any type, fencing, concrete, dirt, rock, tires and hazardous waste are refused, landscapers and contractors and anyone paid to haul are refused, loads have to be secure, and the trailer is limited to a single axle. Electronics are not on the accepted list either.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in Midland has three destinations and one phone number behind all of them. A household that would rather not wait for the free scheduled furniture and appliance pickup on 432-685-7278 can drive the load to the Citizens Collection Station at 4100 Smith Road or the Citizens Convenience Center at 6400 W. Highway 80, both open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., which take bulky items such as furniture and mattresses, white goods, recyclables and brush from city households on a single-axle trailer with a secure load, and refuse commercial waste, paid haulers, contractors, construction material, fencing, concrete, dirt, rock, tires and hazardous waste. Butt's Recycling Center at 26 W. Industrial Loop takes the recyclable streams on weekdays. Construction debris has no place in either of the curbside routes, so a project load moves in a 30 cubic yard open-top city container billed to the water account, with the landfill at 7901 E. Garden City Highway as the receiving site and 432-685-7278 for the container price. Recycling page with the three resident drop-off sites and their hours, the household single-family residency rule, the bar on commercial waste and paid haulers, the single-axle trailer limit, the accepted bulky item, white goods, recyclable and brush lists, the refused construction, concrete, dirt, rock, tire and hazardous lists and the state electronics take-back referralTrash service page with the two residential collection patterns, the individual cart service and alley containers, the prohibited items covering tires, vehicle batteries, barrels of oil, tree limbs and construction debris, the yard waste drop-off address, the drying rule for paint, the charged 30 cubic yard construction containers and the free scheduled furniture and appliance pickup with its named item listLandfill page with the Garden City Highway address and the weekday and Saturday hours, the 500 dollar annual garbage hauler permit and the 25 dollar access fee for an unpermitted vehicle

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Midland.

How much does TV removal cost in Midland?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Midland?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Midland?

Not to the alley and not to the citizen drop-off points, because neither list names electronics. The city refers residents to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality pages for recycling televisions and computers, which describe manufacturer take-back programmes offering free recycling to Texas residents. Wipe personal data before handover, and keep batteries and other hazardous material out of the load.Official guidance

How do large items leave a Midland address?

Two ways. The city will collect furniture and appliances on a scheduled pickup at no additional charge when a resident calls 432-685-7278, naming couches, chairs, bed frames, most household furniture, freezers, air conditioning units, barbecue grills, swing sets, patio furniture, water heaters, washers, dryers and refrigerators, with the items placed in the alley in the city right of way rather than beside the dumpster. Or the household can drive the load to the Citizens Collection Station at 4100 Smith Road or the Citizens Convenience Center at 6400 W. Highway 80, which take bulky items, white goods, recyclables and brush from city households on single-axle trailer loads.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Midland?

The City of Midland Sanitation Department does, through its own Solid Waste Division, with residential garbage twice a week on either a Monday and Thursday or a Tuesday and Friday route and individual curbside cart service. Large furniture and appliance pickups are scheduled on 432-685-7278 at no additional charge, the citizen drop-off points take bulky items and recyclables from city households, and the department office is at 401 N. Carver St., open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Official guidance

How do I book a large item pickup in Midland?

Call the Solid Waste Division on 432-685-7278 to set the date, then place the items in the alley in the city right of way behind the home rather than beside the dumpster, because the city states that it will not go onto private property. The pickup carries no additional charge and runs by date of call, and the named list covers couches, chairs, bed frames, most household furniture, freezers, air conditioning units, barbecue grills, swing sets, patio furniture, water heaters, washers, dryers and refrigerators.Official guidance

What will Midland not collect?

Tires, vehicle batteries, barrels of oil and related materials, tree limbs and construction debris are all prohibited in the alley, and the city states that unauthorized disposal of those items is treated as illegal dumping. The citizen drop-off points add commercial waste, construction material, fencing, concrete, dirt, rock, tires and hazardous waste to that list, and they refuse landscapers, contractors and anyone paid to haul residential material. Electronics are not named on either route, so a television or computer goes through the state take-back programmes the city refers to.Official guidance

Where does yard waste go in Midland?

Tree limbs and brush are prohibited in the alley as part of the curbside service, so the route is a drop-off. The Citizens Collection Station north of the ClayDesta post office at 4100 Smith Road takes yard waste, and the same site and the Citizens Convenience Center take brush such as tree trimmings and yard trimmings from city households during their Tuesday to Friday and Saturday hours. Paint is different: spread it on old wood or cardboard to dry, then put the dried material in the alley container.Official guidance
