Couch & furniture removal in MidlandCity collection Furniture has two published routes. The city will collect couches, chairs, bed frames and most household furniture on a scheduled pickup at no additional charge, and the resident drop-off points take furniture as a bulky item. The city states that residential furniture pickup carries no additional charge when it is arranged by calling the Solid Waste Division on 432-685-7278, which is the published price statement. For the resident drop-off points the city publishes no fee, so confirm any charge there on the same number.

Mattress & bed removal in MidlandCity collection A mattress is named on the drop-off accepted list as a bulky item, so the route is one of the three resident drop-off points rather than the alley. The curbside furniture list names bed frames and most household furniture but not mattresses. The city publishes no fee for the Citizens Collection Station or the Citizens Convenience Center. What those pages publish is the eligibility and the conditions: City of Midland residents hauling household items from their own single-family homes, single-axle trailer loads only, no commercial waste and no paid haulers. Appliance pickup in MidlandCity collection Cooling units are named on the free curbside pickup list, but the city publishes no refrigerant rule for either the pickup or the drop-off points. The unit therefore stays a confirmation rather than an assumed acceptance. No refrigerant rule or fee is published. Freezers, air conditioning units and refrigerators are on the no additional charge pickup list, so the cost question is the refrigerant work rather than the collection, and the city should be asked how it wants a unit that still holds refrigerant handled. The local disposal guide
Midland runs its own sanitation department, and the useful part of it for a clean-out is a phone number. Residential garbage goes out twice a week by zone, but furniture and appliances leave on a scheduled pickup that the city describes as carrying no additional charge: a resident calls 432-685-7278, the items go in the alley in the city right of way, and the list of what the city will take is generous, naming couches, chairs, bed frames, most household furniture, freezers, air conditioning units, barbecue grills, swing sets, patio furniture, water heaters, washers, dryers and refrigerators. For anything a household would rather drive, there are three resident drop-off points taking bulky items, mattresses, white goods, recyclables and brush. Construction is the exception in both directions, because the city refuses it curbside and at the drop-off centres and instead rents a 30 cubic yard open-top container that is billed on the water bill.

Midland publishes no local electronics collection and does not name electronics on either the curbside pickup list or the drop-off accepted list. What it does publish is a referral to the state manufacturer take-back programmes for televisions and computers.
Construction debris is refused in the alley and refused at the drop-off points, both by name. The city's own route for it is a 30 cubic yard open-top container supplied on request and billed to the household's water account.
Swing sets are named on the free scheduled curbside list, but exercise machines are not named anywhere. The category therefore stays a confirmation against a list that does show the city will take large outdoor and household equipment.

The handoff matters
Midland collects residential garbage twice a week on either a Monday and Thursday or a Tuesday and Friday route, with individual curbside cart service and one alley container for every four to five residents. Large items follow different instructions. The city states that they must be placed in the alley in the city right of way, behind the home, and explicitly that the pile should not sit next to the dumpster, because the collection is scheduled with the Solid Waste Division and runs by date of call. The city also states that it will not go onto private property, so a pile inside a gate or in a carport is out of reach.
Trash service page with the two residential collection patterns, the individual cart service and alley containers, the prohibited items covering tires, vehicle batteries, barrels of oil, tree limbs and construction debris, the yard waste drop-off address, the drying rule for paint, the charged 30 cubic yard construction containers and the free scheduled furniture and appliance pickup with its named item listThe city names the material it will not collect: tires, vehicle batteries, barrels of oil and related materials, tree limbs and construction debris. It states that unauthorized disposal of those items is treated as illegal dumping, which puts the responsibility on the household rather than on the hauler. The citizen drop-off points add their own refusals, barring commercial waste of any type, construction material of any type, fencing, concrete, dirt, rock, tires and hazardous waste, and they refuse loads from landscapers, contractors and anyone paid to haul residential material. Yard waste has its own route to the Citizens Collection Station at 4100 Smith Road, and paint should be spread on old wood or cardboard to dry before it goes into the alley container.

The citizen sites are reserved for City of Midland residents hauling household items or recyclables from their own single-family homes, commercial waste of any type is refused, anyone receiving payment to haul material from a residential site is refused, only single-axle trailer loads are accepted, landscapers and contractors are refused, and loads have to be secure. To one of the city's resident drop-off points. The Citizens Collection Station at 4100 Smith Road and the Citizens Convenience Center at 6400 W. Highway 80 both name bulky items such as household furniture and mattresses for City of Midland residents hauling household items from their own single-family homes, and the city publishes no fee for either site, so confirm any charge on 432-685-7278. They are open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., accept single-axle trailer loads only, and refuse commercial and contractor material.Official guidance
Yes, and the city states there is no additional charge. Couches are named on the residential furniture and appliance pickup list, along with chairs, bed frames and most household furniture, and a resident calls 432-685-7278 to set a pickup date. The couch goes in the alley in the city right of way rather than next to the dumpster, and the city will not collect from private property. The resident drop-off points take furniture as a bulky item as well.Official guidance
On the free scheduled pickup. The city names freezers, air conditioning units, water heaters, washers, dryers and refrigerators on the residential furniture and appliance list and states that there is no additional charge, with the pickup arranged by calling 432-685-7278 and the items placed in the alley in the city right of way. White goods such as stoves, water heaters, washers and dryers are also accepted at the Citizens Collection Station and the Citizens Convenience Center.Official guidance
Refrigerators are named on the residential furniture and appliance pickup list along with freezers and air conditioning units, and the city states that the pickup carries no additional charge when it is arranged on 432-685-7278. The city publishes no refrigerant rule, though, so ask how a unit that still holds refrigerant should be handled before it goes to the alley. White goods are also accepted at the Citizens Collection Station and the Citizens Convenience Center.Official guidance
Not to the alley and not to the citizen drop-off points, because neither list names electronics. The city refers residents to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality pages for recycling televisions and computers, which describe manufacturer take-back programmes offering free recycling to Texas residents. Wipe personal data before handover, and keep batteries and other hazardous material out of the load.Official guidance
Two ways. The city will collect furniture and appliances on a scheduled pickup at no additional charge when a resident calls 432-685-7278, naming couches, chairs, bed frames, most household furniture, freezers, air conditioning units, barbecue grills, swing sets, patio furniture, water heaters, washers, dryers and refrigerators, with the items placed in the alley in the city right of way rather than beside the dumpster. Or the household can drive the load to the Citizens Collection Station at 4100 Smith Road or the Citizens Convenience Center at 6400 W. Highway 80, which take bulky items, white goods, recyclables and brush from city households on single-axle trailer loads.Official guidance
The City of Midland Sanitation Department does, through its own Solid Waste Division, with residential garbage twice a week on either a Monday and Thursday or a Tuesday and Friday route and individual curbside cart service. Large furniture and appliance pickups are scheduled on 432-685-7278 at no additional charge, the citizen drop-off points take bulky items and recyclables from city households, and the department office is at 401 N. Carver St., open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Official guidance
Call the Solid Waste Division on 432-685-7278 to set the date, then place the items in the alley in the city right of way behind the home rather than beside the dumpster, because the city states that it will not go onto private property. The pickup carries no additional charge and runs by date of call, and the named list covers couches, chairs, bed frames, most household furniture, freezers, air conditioning units, barbecue grills, swing sets, patio furniture, water heaters, washers, dryers and refrigerators.Official guidance
Tires, vehicle batteries, barrels of oil and related materials, tree limbs and construction debris are all prohibited in the alley, and the city states that unauthorized disposal of those items is treated as illegal dumping. The citizen drop-off points add commercial waste, construction material, fencing, concrete, dirt, rock, tires and hazardous waste to that list, and they refuse landscapers, contractors and anyone paid to haul residential material. Electronics are not named on either route, so a television or computer goes through the state take-back programmes the city refers to.Official guidance
Tree limbs and brush are prohibited in the alley as part of the curbside service, so the route is a drop-off. The Citizens Collection Station north of the ClayDesta post office at 4100 Smith Road takes yard waste, and the same site and the Citizens Convenience Center take brush such as tree trimmings and yard trimmings from city households during their Tuesday to Friday and Saturday hours. Paint is different: spread it on old wood or cardboard to dry, then put the dried material in the alley container.Official guidance
