Choose the right items

One computer setup can be several items.

A separate monitor and tower count separately. Small devices and cables have their own box option. Choose what is actually leaving so your price matches the pickup.

Monitor, desktop or laptop.

Choose Computer monitor for each separate display. Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. A laptop is its own item. Add only the devices going.

Printer or office copier.

A printer with a built-in scanner belongs under Printer. A floor-standing copy machine belongs under Office copier. The shape matters more than the brand.

A box of smaller electronics.

Use Box of electronics for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. For a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries, send a photo and confirm the fit before booking.

Computers and household electronics

Special rules apply

Computers and small electronics use the same county drop-off as televisions, charged as electronics rather than as free recyclables.

City cost & eligibility
The county centre takes recyclables and household hazardous material free but treats electronics as a paid drop-off, and the amount is not published on the city page. Confirm the item and the charge on 281-633-7581 before the trip, and ask about the Missouri City Green events as the free alternative.
When & how
Use the county centre at 1200 Blume Road in Rosenberg after confirming its hours, or wait for the twice-yearly Missouri City Green electronics event.
Get it ready
Wipe stored data from drives, laptops and phones, keep the power supply and cables with the device, and drop cell phones at the City Hall lobby, the Municipal Court lobby, the Police Station lobby or the Parks Maintenance Facility instead, since those sites take phones separately.

Two route patterns, one recycling day for the big items

Missouri City publishes two service patterns. Households with trash on Mondays and Thursdays have recycling, bulk and yard waste collected on Thursdays, and households with trash on Tuesdays and Fridays have them collected on Tuesdays, with everything at the curb by 7:00 a.m. Garbage itself runs twice a week, and the city's ordinance sets the service window between 7 am and 7 pm. The automatic front-loading trucks need the garbage and recycling bins at least 5 feet apart with the handles facing the house, and the monthly base rate that took effect on January 1, 2026 covers the whole package, including holiday tree pickup in January.

What the weekly bins and bags take

The commingled recycling collection takes plastics, all metal cans, all cardboard, glass and paper or paper cartons every week, with containers rinsed and cardboard flattened and pizza boxes left out of the bin. Yard waste has to go into heavy-duty biodegradable lawn and leaf refuse bags that will not break when lifted, and anything in a regular solid waste bag is collected as trash instead. Brush has to be securely bound and no longer than four feet or 40 pounds. Yard waste and recycling ride the same day as the bulky collection.

The city's named destinations for everything else

The Missouri City Recycling Center beside the City Hall complex closed in 2016, and the city now names outside destinations for material the curbside programme does not take. The Fort Bend County Recycling Center at 1200 Blume Road in Rosenberg accepts glass, scrap metal, paper, plastics, styrofoam, antifreeze, car and truck batteries, oil filters, used motor oil, cooking oil and rechargeable batteries free of charge, and takes electronics for a fee, with questions on 281-633-7581. Garbage can go to the BFI Blue Ridge Landfill at 2200 FM 521 Road in Fresno on 281-835-6142, tree trimmings can go to Living Earth Technology at 1503 Industrial Drive for a fee on 281-499-5641, cell phones can be dropped at four city lobbies, and Missouri City Green hosts electronics events about twice a year.

City of Missouri City Municipal Solid Waste Program with GFL Environmental

Take hazardous material and electronics to the county centre

A household with batteries, used motor oil, antifreeze, oil filters, cooking oil, styrofoam, scrap metal or electronics.

Cost & conditions
The city states that the recyclable and household hazardous material list is free of charge while electronics are accepted for a fee, and it publishes neither the amount nor the centre's hours, so confirm both on 281-633-7581.
Arrange it
Go to the Fort Bend County Recycling Center at 1200 Blume Road, Rosenberg, TX 77471, once the hours are confirmed, and keep electronics separate because they are the paid category.

Electronics are not free, the hours are not published on the city page, and the centre is outside the city, so the trip should be planned around a confirmed opening window.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Missouri City means leaving the city route and using one of the destinations its own pages name. The Fort Bend County Recycling Center at 1200 Blume Road in Rosenberg takes glass, scrap metal, paper, plastics, styrofoam, antifreeze, car and truck batteries, oil filters, used motor oil, cooking oil and rechargeable batteries free of charge, and accepts electronics for a fee, with questions on 281-633-7581; neither the fee amount nor the hours are printed on the city page, so call first. Garbage can be taken to the BFI Blue Ridge Landfill at 2200 FM 521 Road in Fresno on 281-835-6142 and tree trimmings to Living Earth Technology at 1503 Industrial Drive on 281-499-5641 for a fee. Cell phones have their own drop-offs in the City Hall lobby at 1522 Texas Parkway, the Municipal Court lobby at 3845 Cartwright Road, the Police Station lobby at 3849 Cartwright Road and the Parks Maintenance Facility at 1523 Texas Parkway, and Missouri City Green hosts electronics collection events about twice a year. The city's own recycling center beside the City Hall complex closed permanently in 2016, so there is no municipal drop-off left.
