Get it ready
Wipe personal data from computers, phones and drives before handover, and keep electronics out of the garbage and the recycling cart. Do not take a television to Goodwill, because the city states televisions will not be accepted there, and check the state programme list for a television.
Contractor waste, roofing, tires and chemicals stay out
Dirt, concrete, rocks, bricks and roofing shingles are refused at the curb, along with tires, commercial construction waste or construction waste from a contractor working on the property, and hazardous waste such as chemicals, oil, fertilizers and lithium batteries. Tires without rims can go to the landfill for a fee, and household chemicals wait for the city's periodic collection event with registration by email.

The city lists the receiving businesses without publishing their fees, and several of them charge for some items, so confirm the item, the appointment and any fee with the business before loading the car.
Arrange it
Use the city list to pick the right business: DFW Reclaimers for appliances, computers and electronics, retailers such as Best Buy, Staples and Target for electronics, Goodwill on Rufe Snow Drive for working and non-working electronics other than televisions, Home Depot or Batteries Plus for rechargeable batteries, and Neighborhood Services at City Hall for unbroken bulbs up to four feet long.
The list is a directory rather than a programme, so acceptance and fees are the business's own. Televisions are refused at Goodwill and go to the state television programme list instead, and automotive batteries are only taken when a new battery is purchased unless the receiving store says otherwise.
North Richland Hills keeps the curbside route generous and the restrictions clear. Republic Services runs a twice weekly take all collection, bulky items go out on any normal collection day once a week up to four cubic yards, and mattresses, furniture, bundled carpet, fence panels and appliances are all on the acceptable list as long as nothing exceeds fifty pounds. Appliances holding refrigerant are the exception that needs preparation, because the unit has to be tagged certifying that a certified technician removed the refrigerant.
