Appliances are explicitly part of the bulky programme in Sugar Land: the city states that appliances are considered bulky items, and the bulky definition names stoves and refrigerators. The one condition is that refrigerant has to be removed before the pickup, and appliances are refused at the city's Recycle Round Up events.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included in the monthly residential rate as bulky material, up to five cubic yards per monthly bulky day, provided the refrigerant has already been removed from a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner; extra collections are charged on the published rates.
When & how
Arrange the freon removal first, then put the appliance at the curb by 7 a.m. on your bulky waste day, four feet clear of other objects.
Get it ready
Have the refrigerant removed before the pickup as the city requires, empty the unit, keep it upright and curbside rather than in a cart, and keep the appliance away from the Recycle Round Up load because event staff refuse appliances of every size.
Households receive a 95 gallon grey garbage cart and a 65 gallon green recycling cart, with 65 or 95 gallon sizes available on request. Carts go to the base of the curb with the wheels against the curb, the handle facing away from the street and the lid opening toward the street, at least three feet from utility poles, mailboxes, trees, hydrants and parked cars so the automated arm has room. Garbage is bagged inside the cart, recyclables go in loose, and the cart must not block a sidewalk.
Bulky collection is a separate service from the carts and runs once a month on a Monday, on a day households look up by address. Material goes out by 7 a.m. and no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before, households may set out up to five cubic yards, and everything sits at the curb at least four feet from other objects. Three extra collections follow the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's holidays at no additional cost, and any more than that is booked and paid for through Republic Services.

From $148.84 for for an additional bulk pickup of less than three cubic yards, with a pickup of three to five cubic yards charged at the published higher rate and unusual accumulation work charged hourly plus a disposal fee per yard. Booked with Republic Services on 713-726-7307 with payment made at the time the collection is scheduled.

This is a fee based extra on top of the routine monthly collection, the price steps up between the under three cubic yard and the three to five cubic yard brackets, and the same exclusions for construction, demolition, hazardous and electronic waste apply.

No charge. One free visit a month for up to three cubic yards of household solid waste at Blue Ridge Landfill for Sugar Land residents, with identification and a physical copy of the water bill required at the gate.
Arrange it
Drive to 2200 FM 521 Road in Fresno between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday or 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday, and wear closed toed shoes, a hard hat and a safety vest.
One free visit a month and three cubic yards at a time, construction and hazardous material are outside the household waste allowance, and the safety gear requirement is enforced on site.
