Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.

A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Salt Lake City picks up large items through Call 2 Haul, which brings a truck to the address rather than asking for a pile at the curb. Two scheduled pickups a year are included with residential curbside garbage service, one bulk waste and one green waste.
Furniture is named on the Call 2 Haul list, with sofas, couches, chairs, desks, tables, bed frames, bookshelves and large children's toys and equipment, and the same list covers doors and cabinets, filing cabinets, scrap metal, pipes and shelving units.
Mattresses, box springs and bed foundations have their own section on the Call 2 Haul eligible list. Clean mattresses are recycled by Springback, while a soiled or wet mattress cannot be recycled and goes to the landfill.
All household appliances are eligible for Call 2 Haul, with ranges, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers and hot water heaters named on the list, and lawnmowers and barbecue grills sit in the same appliance group.
Refrigerators and other coolant containing appliances are eligible for Call 2 Haul, and the city recovers the coolant and recycles the metal. The published condition is on the doors: they have to be removed or taped and belted shut before the unit is placed out.
Electronic waste is eligible for Call 2 Haul, and the city's own wording is that if it has a plug it is likely eligible. The list names televisions, computers, printers, monitors, scanners, mobile phones, small kitchen appliances and stereo equipment.
Call 2 Haul takes long loose items such as lumber, window blinds, pipes, brooms and mops only up to five feet in length and 60 pounds in weight, and nothing on the retained pages offers a curbside route for a full renovation load. The programme is explicitly a booked item service rather than a pile programme.
Exercise equipment is named on the Call 2 Haul eligible list, in the same line as lawnmowers emptied of gas and oil and barbecue grills. It goes out through the same booked pickup as furniture and appliances.
