Salt Lake City runs four weekly carts and a booked bulk programme rather than a pile week: Call 2 Haul brings a truck to the address for furniture, mattresses, appliances, refrigerators, tires, electronics and bulky green waste, and two of those pickups a year are included with residential garbage service, one for bulky waste and one for green waste. The city prints the conditions on the item list, from the refrigerator doors that have to be off or belted shut and the coolant it recovers itself, to the clean and dry mattress rule and the four tire limit. Household chemicals stay out of the carts and go to the county collection centre in Sandy, and anything larger than a five foot piece of lumber goes to the Salt Lake Valley Landfill over the scales.
