The local disposal guide
Sandy runs its own semi-annual curbside bulk waste collection, one pile per home, and the accepted list is unusually wide: appliances, televisions, water heaters, furniture and cabinets, toilets and tubs, mattresses and bed frames, rolled carpet, limited green waste, short fencing and lumber, small gas equipment with the fluids drained, grills with the propane removed, scrap metal under fifty pounds and empty drums. Anything not on that list will not be picked up, so residents either haul it away or rent the City's thirty cubic yard dumpster twice a year. Household hazardous waste is free from Salt Lake County homes at the county collection centre inside Sandy, which also takes electronics, while a refrigerator that still holds Freon goes to a landfill at the published removal fee or gets a professional removal and tag before it joins the bulk pile.
