Get it ready
Bag, box or bundle small loose items such as leaves and grass clippings, roll carpet and padding, cut green waste to four feet and eighteen inches in diameter with no sod, cut fencing, posts, lumber and scrap metal to four feet with scrap under fifty pounds, drain oil and gas from small equipment, remove propane tanks from grills, remove glass from furniture, and empty fifty five gallon drums with the tops off. Keep the pile two feet out from the gutter and clear of driveways.
Sandy allows one bulk waste pile per home, set out no sooner than seventy-two hours before the scheduled collection date, two feet out from the gutter and clear of driveways. Hauling bulk waste to another location counts as illegal dumping and is reported to the police at 801-799-3000.
The bulk waste programme is for Sandy residents, and the City states it is not available to businesses, apartments, condominiums, mobile parks or Salt Lake County residents. Anything outside the accepted list has to be hauled away privately or placed in a rented dumpster.
Small loose material is bagged, boxed or bundled, carpet is rolled, green waste is cut to four feet and eighteen inches with no sod, fencing, posts, lumber and scrap metal are cut to four feet with scrap under fifty pounds, small gas equipment has the oil and gas drained, grills lose the propane tank, furniture loses its glass, drums are empty with the tops off, and appliances that hold refrigerant are tagged after professional removal.
The thirty cubic yard residential dumpster takes yard debris, building materials, household items including appliances, and furniture, while dirt, fill, concrete and roofing shingles may fill no more than one third of the container. Batteries, gasoline, hazardous or flammable material, herbicides, motor oil, paints, pesticides, solvents, tires and toxic material are refused.

Cost & conditions
$310 for for a thirty cubic yard dumpster delivered to a Sandy home for up to seventy two hours, with the City paying delivery and dumping charges. Each home may use the programme up to twice a year. A published transaction fee applies to card payments, and a published trip charge applies if the container cannot be collected on the scheduled day because it is overloaded or inaccessible.
Arrange it
Order the container from Public Works and expect delivery between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the scheduled day, with placement on the street or private property as directed.

$2.85 per month for an additional Waste Management recycling cart, a rate the City notes is reduced from its former published price, while swapping the existing cart for a larger ninety six gallon model carries no additional fee. Both requests go through Sandy City utility billing on 801-568-7110, and the cart weight limit stays at 225 pounds.
Arrange it
Call utility billing to add a cart or swap for the larger size, then keep material loose in the cart with the lid fully closed.
Only clean and dry accepted material belongs in the cart, recyclables are never bagged, and an overflowing cart is treated as a contamination and safety problem.
Sandy households that haul their own loads have three published destinations. Household hazardous waste and electronics go free to the Salt Lake County collection centre at 8805 South 700 West inside Sandy, open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the same material is accepted at the Trans-Jordan Landfill in South Jordan and the Salt Lake Valley Landfill in Salt Lake City.
