  1. Check what your delivery includes.

If a new mattress is arriving, check whether your retailer is taking the old one. If you need Dropcurb, choose a day when you can have it outside. A delivery window and a pickup day are different arrangements.

  2. Arrange the trip outside.

Plan for doorways, elevators and interior stairs before pickup day. You arrange any indoor carrying. Use a permitted outdoor location and keep entrances and the walking path open.

  3. Make the right mattress easy to find.

Mattresses and box springs

Accepted with preparation

A mattress or box spring is a priced item in the district's specialty curbside collection and must be bagged before pickup.

City cost & eligibility
$20 per mattress or box spring through specialty curbside collection, in addition to the applicable base pickup rate for the household, which is charged per pickup based on the service location. Residential district customers, with every mattress and box spring bagged before pickup because an unbagged item will not be collected; mattresses are not accepted through the landfill voucher program.
When & how
Request the specialty curbside collection from the district, bag the mattress or box spring before the scheduled day, and leave it out for the collection. The district's customer solutions line is (385) 468-6325, Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM.
Get it ready
Bag the mattress or box spring completely before pickup, keep it out of the curbside recycling can, and do not plan on the landfill voucher for it because mattresses are excluded from that program.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Specialty items are booked, priced and prepped

The district's specialty curbside collection is residential only, and the charge is a base pickup rate for the household plus a rate for each item selected. The base rate depends on where the property sits, with one rate for the Valley inside the district, a higher one for Canyon communities and a higher one again for out-of-district Valley addresses. Mattresses and box springs must be bagged before pickup or they will not be taken, tires are priced with or without a rim, and appliances cost more when they contain refrigerant.

The landfill voucher is a covered, eligible load

The district's digital landfill voucher waives the landfill fee for residents inside its service area, and it is requested from an online form and presented at the gate on a phone or as a printed copy. It is valid for cars, SUVs, pickups up to one ton and hand-unloaded trailers, with trailers hauled by one-ton or larger trucks ineligible, and every load has to be securely covered. Mattresses, tires and units containing refrigerant are excluded from the voucher, and the old central bulky waste drop-off events are closed or cancelled.

Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District under contract with Herriman City, with Salt Lake County household hazardous waste facilities

Book the district's specialty curbside collection

A residential property with a mattress or box spring, an appliance, or tires that the basic weekly service does not cover.

Cost & conditions
From $5 per item on top of the applicable base pickup rate for the household, starting with the lowest published item rate for a tire without a rim, with a tire with a rim at the higher rate, a mattress or box spring and a non-refrigerant appliance each on their own rate and an appliance containing refrigerant at the highest appliance rate. Residential district customers, with the base pickup rate set by service location; every mattress and box spring must be bagged before pickup.
Arrange it
Request the collection from the district on (385) 468-6325 or by text on (385) 235-0150, bag any bedding in advance, and put the items out for the scheduled day.

Furniture is not accepted through this service, an additional trip for a missed set-out is charged separately, only residential customers can use it, and the base pickup rate applies on top of every item rate.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling through the district runs on the annual digital landfill voucher. A resident inside the district service area completes an online form for the chosen site and presents the voucher at the gate on a phone or as a printed copy, and the load has to fit the voucher rules: a car, SUV, pickup up to one ton or a hand-unloaded trailer, securely covered, with one voucher per eligible property each year. Mattresses, tires and units containing refrigerant are not accepted with a voucher, and trailers hauled by one-ton or larger trucks pay the standard fee. The participating sites are the Salt Lake Valley Landfill at 6030 W California Ave on 385-468-6370, the Trans-Jordan Landfill at 10473 S Bacchus Hwy on 801-569-8994 and the Trans-Jordan Transfer Station at 8813 South 700 West in Sandy on 801-569-8994. Hazardous waste and most electronics do not go to a landfill: they go to the Salt Lake County household hazardous waste facilities at 8805 South 700 West, 6030 West California Ave or 10473 South Bacchus Hwy, or to a listed private electronics recycler. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Mattress removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Herriman.

How much does mattress removal cost in Herriman?

The price depends on the mattress size you choose. A queen mattress is $99 as the first item and $30 as an additional item. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any box spring or frame separately, then review your total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I book same-day mattress pickup in Herriman?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Have the mattress outside and accessible according to your confirmation. Your booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Is my box spring or bed frame included in mattress removal?

The mattress price covers the mattress only. Add your box spring, bed frame or adjustable base separately if those are going too. Choose the size and type that match each item. The combined price appears before booking.

Will you carry my mattress downstairs or out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange to move the mattress out of your apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load it and take it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Check your building’s access rules before arranging the move outside.

Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?

You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Dropcurb books a pickup day, not the retailer’s delivery window. Contact us before booking if access is limited to a short time.

How do I get rid of a mattress here?

Book the district's specialty curbside collection: a mattress or box spring is a priced item on top of the base pickup rate for the household, and it must be bagged before pickup or the crew will not take it. Mattresses cannot be handled with the annual landfill voucher, because that program excludes mattresses along with tires and refrigerant-containing units, so specialty curbside is the published route.Official guidance

What does the monthly district service include?

Weekly garbage and recycling collection, the annual fall leaf collection, the annual Christmas tree collection, a one-time moving box collection, free can repair and a seasonal container reservation when one is available. The district also offers additional subscription services such as glass recycling, a green waste subscription and extra cans, and limited mobility support through its Curbside Assist Program. The fee is adopted by the district board through its public budget process, with a 2026 mid-year schedule effective April 1, 2026.Official guidance

How is a specialty pickup charged?

A base pickup rate per household for the service location plus a rate for each item selected. The base rate differs between Valley in-district, Canyon communities in-district and out-of-district Valley addresses, and furniture is not accepted through the service at all at this time. Mattresses and box springs have to be bagged before pickup, tires cost more with a rim than without, and an appliance costs more when it contains refrigerant. A missed set-out or extra trip is charged separately as an additional pickup.Official guidance

What should never go in the curbside recycling can?

The district lists hazardous materials, batteries, electronics, paint, gasoline, antifreeze, pesticides, full aerosol cans, propane tanks, plastic bags and plastic film, glass, tires, mattresses, textiles and pallets as materials that do not belong in curbside recycling. Paint and chemicals go to one of the three Salt Lake County household hazardous waste facilities, electronics and appliances go to a listed recycler or the county collection center, and tires and mattresses go through the district's specialty curbside collection.Official guidance
