Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Get it ready
Break the machine down where it can be, remove the battery and dispose of it under the battery rules, tie down any loose deck or handle, and keep the load inside the 500 pound weekly Reworld limit.
Residents with proof of residency at the scale house may drop small amounts of metal, non-metal items, brush and yard waste once a week up to 500 pounds free of charge at Reworld Alexandria at 5301 Eisenhower Avenue, using the bypass lane on the far right, unloading the vehicle themselves, and keeping household trash, stumps, rocks, dirt, sand, pressurized cylinders and refrigerant appliances out of the load. Contractors are turned away from the residential drop off.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
Use the city curbside collection and appliance appointments

$20 per appliance for the curbside collection appointment arranged through the Resource Recovery Division, with the weekly household collection funded by the Solid Waste User Fee, published in the city Fee Compendium as 500 dollars per year for residential refuse collection and billed twice a year on the real estate tax bill. Alexandria residents who are required users of the city service, which covers detached single family homes, duplexes and some townhouses with four or fewer units, with the collection day set by the refuse and recycle maps.

Take metal, non-metal items, brush and yard waste to Reworld at 5301 Eisenhower Avenue on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturday from 6 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and take household chemicals and electronics to 3224 Colvin Street on Monday or Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Reworld accepts no household trash and refuses refrigerant appliances, stumps, rocks, dirt, sand and pressurized cylinders and turns contractors away, the household hazardous waste center is limited to city residents in the listed zip codes, and the city household hazardous waste and electronics collections are free to city residents.
