A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Danville takes oversized household items with the weekly garbage run instead of a separate appointment. A household may set out up to four large bulk debris items a week at no extra cost, and the city defines large bulk debris as anything too big for the approved cart, naming furniture, mattresses, box springs, carpeting, swing sets and bicycles.
Tires are on the city's list of waste that sanitation crews refuse. Danville takes them at the Public Works Complex instead, with a disposal fee charged for each tire.
Household garbage has to sit inside the approved city cart with the lid closed. Bags left beside or on top of the cart are not collected, and small household debris follows the same rule as the trash.
The handoff matters
Bulk debris moves on your normal household garbage day, not on a separate appointment. Have the load behind the curb line or at the property line before 7 a.m. on the collection day, or put it out the evening before, and remember that a household may set out no more than four large items in one week.
