The local disposal guide
Bulky material in Danville does not need an appointment. Furniture, mattresses, box springs and carpeting ride with the same weekly truck that empties the city cart, capped at four large items a week, while large appliances are collected by appointment for a separate fee. Two piles never touch that route: construction and remodeling debris has to reach an approved disposal facility, and tires go to the Public Works Complex for a fee charged per tire.

Danville takes oversized household items with the weekly garbage run instead of a separate appointment. A household may set out up to four large bulk debris items a week at no extra cost, and the city defines large bulk debris as anything too big for the approved cart, naming furniture, mattresses, box springs, carpeting, swing sets and bicycles.
Furniture is named as large bulk debris, so a couch, armchair or table rides with the regular garbage day and counts as one of the four large items allowed that week.

Appliances are not part of the ordinary bulk pile. The city collects white goods by appointment only and charges for each one, with the higher fee attached to anything that can contain refrigerant.
Danville routes electronics to its E-Recycling Center inside the Public Works Complex rather than to the curb, and that free drop off explicitly excludes televisions and CRTs.
The city does not collect construction, remodeling, demolition or rehabilitation debris, and a rented city trailer cannot be loaded with contractor debris either.
Danville does not name exercise machines, but the city defines bulk debris as oversized items such as furniture, mattresses, carpeting and swing sets, so a treadmill or exercise bike that will not fit the cart follows that route and counts toward the four large items allowed each week.
Tires are on the city's list of waste that sanitation crews refuse. Danville takes them at the Public Works Complex instead, with a disposal fee charged for each tire.

The handoff matters
Bulk debris moves on your normal household garbage day, not on a separate appointment. Have the load behind the curb line or at the property line before 7 a.m. on the collection day, or put it out the evening before, and remember that a household may set out no more than four large items in one week.

Place it in the same spot as the cart rather than in a center median, and keep small debris such as lamps and small appliances inside the approved cart, because the city does not collect small debris left outside it.
