Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction, demolition and contractor material

Not on the regular city route

Construction material is shut out of every residential route. It is prohibited in the bi-weekly bulk and brush pile, both self haul sites refuse commercial or contractor debris, and dirt, rocks and concrete are refused at the gates as well.

City cost & eligibility
No city route or rate is published for construction or contractor debris, because the program refuses it rather than pricing it. Call 311 and describe the load to find out what the city will accept, and expect that a contractor-generated load has to be handled by the contractor under its own arrangement.
When & how
Construction material has no collection day and no drop off window on these routes. Confirm the arrangement with the city before the work produces debris rather than setting anything out for the bulk round.
Get it ready
Keep construction debris, bricks, drywall, pipes, dirt, rocks and concrete out of the bulk pile and out of the supercan, and keep paint, gas and propane tanks separate altogether because they are prohibited too. Brush and yard waste at the gates has to be natural wood only, with no plywood or treated wood.

Construction debris, carpet, paint and tanks never ride the bulk round

The prohibited list for bulk and brush covers construction debris, tires without rims, carpet, auto parts, bricks, drywall, pipes, paint, gas tanks, propane tanks and lawn mowers. The self haul gates add their own boundary, refusing commercial or contractor debris and refusing dirt, rocks and concrete, and they accept brush and yard waste only if it is natural wood with no plywood or treated wood.

Storm debris waits at the property line in four foot pieces

Tree debris from a storm event is handled inside the same bi-weekly program with no call or request needed. Crews do not enter private property even when a city tree is involved, residents cut the material into pieces no larger than four feet because the crews carry no saws, and the debris waits at the property line until the round reaches it.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in Richmond means driving to one of two city gates. The East Richmond Road Convenience Center at 3800 East Richmond Road opens Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm and Saturday from 8:30 am to 2 pm, taking household trash and a limited amount of bulk, yard waste and brush in natural wood only, tires without rims up to four, and small appliances, with no commercial vehicles and no contractor material, dirt, rocks or concrete. The Richmond Southside Transfer Station at 3520 North Hopkins Road opens Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm and Saturday from 8:30 am to 2 pm, is closed Sundays and holidays, answers on 804-232-8488, and takes large bulk items such as furniture, brush and yard waste, appliances and large items, with tires without rims limited to four at a dollar each beyond the allowance and five dollars for tractor trailer tires, plus glass bottles, cardboard, aluminum cans and newspapers for recycling. Appliances, bulk and brush are free for city residents at either site, while the curbside alternative is a 50 dollar appliance collection booked through 311 and a 100 dollar 24-hour bulk request paid by check or money order. Electronics leave the city system entirely: the regional authority runs special collection events instead of a standing service, charges fees on some items, and states that electronics must never go in curbside or drop off recycling. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Richmond.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Richmond?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Richmond?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Can construction debris go out in Richmond?

No. Construction debris is on the prohibited list for the bi-weekly bulk and brush program, and both self haul sites refuse commercial or contractor debris along with dirt, rocks and concrete. Call 311 to ask what the city will accept, and expect a contractor load to be the contractor's own responsibility.Official guidance
