Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment is not named on either city page, so a machine is a confirmation rather than a published route even though the bulk round takes general bulky material and the transfer station receives large items.
City cost & eligibility
Neither city page names exercise equipment or prices it. Call 311 and describe the machine to ask whether it belongs in the bi-weekly bulk pile or should go to the Southside Transfer Station as a large item, and mention the size and weight so the answer is useful.
When & how
Nothing goes out until the city answers. A confirmed piece would follow the bulk round on the trash day of the recycling week, or the self haul route during gate hours.
Get it ready
Take the machine down as far as it comes apart, keep the loose weights with the frame, and drain anything powered by fluid. Keep it out of the supercan and out of the recycling bin, and keep carpet and construction material away from it so the pile stays inside the accepted categories.
Bulk goes out on the trash day of the recycling week
The bi-weekly bulk and brush round mirrors the recycling schedule, and City Code Section 11-103 requires bulk items to be placed out on the trash collection day during the recycling week, in the same location as household trash and the night before the collection. If the crew does not collect the material on the day, it returns by Saturday; if items are still out on the Saturday of the second recycling week, the household calls 311 rather than the recycling authority.

No charge. City of Richmond residential addresses on the collection route. The bi-weekly bulk and brush collection is part of the service, and the published prices apply only to the optional 24-hour request and to appliance collection.
Arrange it
Put the material out the night before the trash collection day during the recycling week, in the same location as the household trash, and leave it until the crew either collects it or returns by Saturday.
Construction debris, tires, carpet, auto parts, bricks, drywall, pipes, paint, gas and propane tanks and lawn mowers are prohibited. Storm debris has to be cut to four feet and left at the property line, and anything still out on the Saturday of the second recycling week needs a call to 311.

Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?+
Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
Enter the combined weight in pounds for your dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Booking rounds that total up to the next 10 lb unit: 25 lb uses three units. Stands, racks and benches are separate items and do not include the loose weights. Add each one that is going.
