A separate monitor and tower count separately. Small devices and cables have their own box option. Choose what is actually leaving so your price matches the pickup.

Monitor, desktop or laptop.

Choose Computer monitor for each separate display. Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. A laptop is its own item. Add only the devices going.

Computers and small electronics

Special rules apply

Small appliances and electronics up to two feet in each direction are eligible for a special item pickup and for drop-off at the Recology Store, while larger items go to E-Cycle Washington.

City cost & eligibility
The city lists small appliances and electronics among the special item curbside pickups but publishes no fee for that service, and it names E-Cycle Washington as free for larger items, so confirm the pickup charge with Recology at (425) 453-0220 before booking.
When & how
Schedule a special item pickup with Recology for devices up to 2 feet by 2 feet by 2 feet, drop small appliances under 2 feet at the Recology Store, or take larger e-waste to an E-Cycle Washington location listed at ecyclewa.org.
Get it ready
Wipe stored data from computers and drives, keep power supplies and cables with the device, keep household batteries separate because they have their own pickup and drop-off route with taped terminals, and keep electronics out of all three curbside carts.

Three carts, and recycling stays loose

Recology collects garbage, recycling and organics for every City of Bothell customer, and the city's own rules are mostly about preparation. Recyclables have to be empty, clean and dry, with jars and bottles rinsed and the blue cart lid closed so paper stays dry, and nothing may be bagged because loose plastic bags jam the sorting machinery. The compost cart takes meat, bones and shells, dairy and eggs, fruit and vegetable scraps with the stickers taken off, spoiled leftovers, food soiled paper and napkins, yard trimmings and untreated wood, while pet waste and glass must never go in. Service days come from the city map or the Recology calendar, and a missed collection is reported to the city and to Recology on (425) 453-0220 within 24 hours.

Vouchers, drop-offs and the hazardous waste mobile

The city issues two vouchers worth thirty dollars each per household per year towards recycling CFC appliances, clean wood, yard waste, mattresses and box springs at the Shoreline Recycling and Transfer Station at 2300 N 165th St., which opens Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Vouchers are requested online or collected at the Recology Store, must be requested by November 1 and used by November 30, and any charge above the voucher value is the resident's to pay. Much of the rest of the special material is also handled at that station: rigid styrofoam blocks, clothing and other textiles, and plastic film are accepted there free, although garbage bags and plastic seal bags are prohibited. Small electronics, small appliances under 2 feet, batteries, oils, styrofoam and textiles can also be booked as a special item pickup, larger e-waste goes to the free E-Cycle Washington programme, paint goes to PaintCare drop-offs, and household chemicals go to the King County Wastemobile when it visits the UW Bothell campus at 18115 Campus Way NE from 10 am to 5 pm on its published dates.

Use Recology's special item recycling request form, and follow the set-out instructions it provides for each material, including taped battery terminals.

Use the free E-Cycle Washington programme

A household with a television or other electronic item larger than two feet in any direction or heavier than sixty pounds.

Cost & conditions

Arrange it

Take household chemicals to the Wastemobile

Cost & conditions
No charge. The King County Wastemobile provides no cost household hazardous waste disposal and visits the UW Bothell campus on its published dates.

Permanent King County and Snohomish County facilities and a home collection service for residents aged 65 or older or with disabilities are also available.

The Wastemobile is a travelling site rather than a permanent one, so the household has to use a published date, and the permanent facilities depend on the county the resident lives in.

Drop small items at the Recology Store

A household with rigid styrofoam, textiles, a small appliance under two feet or household batteries.

Cost & conditions
The city lists the Recology Store as a drop-off point for these materials and describes no fee, but it publishes neither the store's own rates nor its address and hours, so confirm both with Recology before a trip.
Arrange it
Take the items to the Recology Store, tape household batteries on both terminals with clear packing tape, and keep styrofoam free of tape and labels under the 32 gallon per drop-off limit.

Styrofoam packing peanuts and hot tub styrofoam inserts are refused, textiles must be dry and free of mildew, mould and hazardous substances, bed pillows are not accepted, and batteries must be taped before drop-off.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Bothell runs through the Shoreline Recycling and Transfer Station and the county hazardous waste system. The station at 2300 N 165th St. in Shoreline opens Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., takes rigid styrofoam blocks, textiles and plastic film at no charge, and through the city's voucher programme takes CFC appliances, clean wood, yard waste, mattresses and box springs. Vouchers are worth thirty dollars each, two per household a year while supplies last, must be requested by November 1 and used by November 30, are open only to residents inside Bothell city limits, do not cover commercial disposal, and leave any charge above thirty dollars to the resident, so request them through the city form or at the Recology Store. Non-refrigerant appliances can be recycled at the same station for no fee, larger electronics go to the free E-Cycle Washington drop-off network, paint goes to PaintCare sites, and household chemicals go to the King County Wastemobile when it is parked at the UW Bothell campus at 18115 Campus Way NE from 10 am to 5 pm on its published dates in February, April, May, July, August and October, with permanent county facilities and a home collection service for residents aged 65 or older or with disabilities as alternatives. County transfer station used for vouchers, styrofoam, textiles, plastic film and appliance recycling

Shoreline Recycling and Transfer Station

2300 N 165th St., Shoreline, WA 98133

Rigid styrofoam blocks at no charge, clothing, boots, shoes, curtains, fabric, linens, blankets, stuffed animals and throw rugs up to 3 feet by 4 feet in any condition except wet, mildewed or contaminated, with no fee, and plastic film at no fee. Through the city voucher programme it also takes CFC appliances, clean wood, yard waste, mattresses and box springs, and non-refrigerant appliances can be recycled there for no fee.

The voucher programme is for City of Bothell residents living inside the city limits and does not cover commercial disposal, vouchers must be requested by November 1 and used by November 30, only two are issued per household a year while supplies last, and anything charged above the thirty dollar voucher value is paid by the resident. Garbage bags and plastic seal bags are prohibited for the free plastic film drop-off.

Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The free drop-offs are described as no fee, but the voucher programme is a thirty dollar credit rather than a full waiver and the station sets its own recycling charges, so confirm the cost for the load before travelling.
