Get it ready
Empty the drawers and cabinets, keep the cushions and hardware with the frame, and keep the piece dry. A metal frame that is at least 85 percent metal and no longer than eight feet can go in the free residential scrap metal area instead of the garbage pile.
The city of Everett does not run garbage, recycling or yard waste collection, so the route depends on the address. Containers go to the street by 6 a.m. on collection day and come back in as soon as they are emptied. Carts are placed three feet apart and three feet from cars, trees, mailboxes and fences, with the wheels close to the curb and the lids opening toward the street. A 32 gallon unit lifted by hand is limited to 65 pounds and a larger cart lifted mechanically is limited to 180 pounds, and an extra bag or 32 gallon can that does not fit with the lid closed is charged separately.
Airport Road Recycling and Transfer Station at 10700 Minuteman Drive is inside Everett and opens seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed on New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Arrive at least 30 minutes before closing, unload your own vehicle, take brooms and shovels with you, and expect the load to be weighed. The recycling area is for residential customers only and it refuses yard and clean wood debris, which the county has not accepted at any facility since 2022.

Garbage for disposal by weight, plus a residential recycling area that takes household appliances without refrigerant, scrap metal up to eight feet long that is at least 85 percent metal, flattened cardboard and mixed paper, glass bottles and jars, tin and aluminium cans, household batteries, lead acid batteries up to three, motor oil and antifreeze up to 10 gallons each, oil filters up to three, cooking oil, fluorescent tubes up to 10, lawn mowers with the fluids drained and the battery removed, and propane tanks in barbecue size up to three per day.
The recycling area is for residential customers only, and the same load cannot include dangerous or moderate risk waste, electronics, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, heat pumps, liquid waste, or yard and clean wood debris, which the county stopped accepting at every facility in 2022. Snohomish County runs a household hazardous waste station at 3434 McDougall Avenue in Everett that is free for households and open Wednesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on 425-388-6050, and it takes oil based paint, latex paint, solvents, gasoline, propane tanks in barbecue size or smaller, batteries, motor oil, oil filters, fluorescent tubes, pesticides, mercury thermometers and sharps from residents.
