Electronics are banned from the garbage and from the county transfer stations, but they have free routes. Televisions, computers and monitors ride the state E-Cycle Washington programme at no charge, the Recology Store takes e-waste, and small electronics that fit the size and weight limits are collected at the curb without a fee.

No charge. Free at authorised E-Cycle Washington collection sites for computers, laptops, monitors and televisions, free through the Recology Store Issaquah for the e-waste it accepts, and free at the curb for small electronics within the special item limits. Electronics outside the E-Cycle Washington product list carry a fee that has to be confirmed with the recycler.
When & how
Small electronics go out on your normal recycling collection day, on top of the blue recycling cart, once you have sent in a special item recycling request. Larger items go to an E-Cycle Washington collection site or to the Recology Store during its open hours.
Get it ready
For the free curbside route the item has to be no larger than two feet by two feet by two feet, under thirty-five pounds, bagged in a one gallon plastic bag, and no more than three items go in one pickup, so a television or a monitor does not qualify at the curb and belongs at an E-Cycle Washington site instead. Wipe personal data before handover, and never put electronics in the recycling cart or the garbage.
Batteries, motor and cooking oil, Styrofoam, textiles, small appliances and electronics, fluorescent tubes and bulbs, bikes, propane and hardcover books are collected on top of or beside the blue recycling cart on collection day once the bill payer requests it. Limits apply: three items for small appliances and electronics inside a two foot cube and under thirty-five pounds, one gallon of batteries, three gallons of each oil, thirty-two gallons of Styrofoam without packing peanuts, and thirty-two gallons of textiles. Anything over those limits goes to the Recology Store at 355 NW Gilman Blvd.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

No charge. Computers, laptops, monitors and televisions are recycled free of charge at authorised E-Cycle Washington collection sites. The county notes that electronics outside the E-Cycle Washington product list carry a fee that has to be confirmed with the recycler.

The free curbside small item programme will not take a television or monitor, because items have to fit inside two feet by two feet by two feet and weigh under thirty-five pounds, and items outside the state programme can carry a recycling fee.
Hard to recycle items that cannot go in the carts: CFL light bulbs, household batteries, textiles, hardcover books, small electronics and appliances, block Styrofoam and bicycles.
Quantities are limited per material, including thirty-two gallons of Styrofoam without packing peanuts, thirty-two gallons of textiles, ten fluorescent bulbs with none longer than four feet, three bikes, fifteen hardcover books and three empty camping style propane canisters. Recology King County residential customers drop off limited quantities at no charge, and non customers pay a minimal fee that depends on the material. Softcover books and propane tanks are not accepted.
Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed Monday.
No charge. Recology King County residential customers may drop off limited quantities of the accepted hard to recycle items at no charge. Non customers may also drop off for a minimal fee depending on the material.

Do you erase data from old computers?+
Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away.
