A few pieces, one pickup

Your room has changed. The old furniture can go.

The desk you no longer use. The dresser that doesn’t fit the new layout. The chairs left over after a move. Choose the pieces you’re done with and give them a pickup day, without arranging a quote visit.

Choose each piece

A table and four chairs are five items.

You don’t need to guess how much space your furniture fills in a truck. Match each piece to the catalog, then add its quantity. Your total updates as you go.

Tables and chairs

Choose the table, then add each chair separately. Coffee tables, side tables and dining tables have their own options. A large or substantially heavy table has a different choice.

Dressers and mirrors

Match the dresser’s overall size. Add a separate dresser mirror as its own item if it is leaving too. Empty drawers and keep the belongings you want before moving the dresser outside.

Desks and bookshelves

Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

Self hauled loads at county facilities

Accepted with preparation

A load too big for the carts goes to a county transfer station at a per vehicle garbage rate or to a drop box at a per cubic yard rate, and residents unload their own vehicles.

City cost & eligibility
From $30 per vehicle at a Snohomish County transfer station for a load of 360 pounds or less, with $160.00 per ton above that, while the county drop boxes charge $30.00 per cubic yard with a five cubic yard maximum per customer per load, and an unsecured load charge of 20 dollars for a vehicle under 8,000 pounds and 25 dollars for a heavier one. Self hauled residential loads at county facilities, where customers unload their own vehicles and the recycling areas are free for residential customers only.
When & how
The transfer stations take garbage and recycling seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the drop boxes keep shorter weekly schedules. All county facilities close on New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, and arrivals are asked to be at the gate at least 30 minutes before closing.
Get it ready
Cover and secure the load, because an unsecured load is charged an extra fee, and keep dangerous waste, moderate risk waste and yard or clean wood debris out of the load because county facilities refuse all three. At the drop boxes every item has to be under six feet long or under 25 square feet, except household sofas, appliances, mattresses, doors, carpets and rugs.

Couches, chairs and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

Sofas and other household furniture travel as garbage at the county facilities, and the hauler also takes a special pickup request for a household that cannot self haul.

City cost & eligibility
From $30 per vehicle at a Snohomish County transfer station for a load of 360 pounds or less, with $160.00 per ton above that. Self hauled residential loads at county facilities, while a curbside special pickup is requested through Waste Management at a rate the hauler does not publish.
When & how
Take the piece to a transfer station any day between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or ask Waste Management for a special pickup on the household's collection day.
Get it ready
A household sofa is one of the items exempt from the drop box size limit, so it travels as garbage rather than as recycling. Keep the piece clear of the carts, and cover the load for the trip.

Weekly garbage, every other week recycling and a handful of holidays

Waste Management collects garbage every week and recycling every other week for Lake Stevens, with yard and food waste weekly for households that subscribe. Collection runs as usual on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day and Veterans Day, but no garbage is collected on Independence Day and a double garbage load is taken the following week. Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day push collection one day later for the rest of the week, and a household that cannot self haul can ask for a special pickup through the hauler's service page.

Cover the load, bring payment and watch the gate time

Self hauled loads go to a county transfer station between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. any day, or to a county drop box on its shorter weekly schedule, and all county facilities close on New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Loads must be covered and secured, because an unsecured load carries the county's published unsecured load charge, and payment is by cash, check with identification, or Visa, Mastercard and Discover only.

The county recycling area is free, but it refuses a lot

County recycling areas are free for residential customers only and take appliances without refrigerant, household batteries, motor oil up to 10 gallons a day, antifreeze, oil filters, lead acid batteries, fluorescent tubes and bulbs, glass bottles and jars, tin and aluminum cans, propane tanks of barbecue size, lawn mowers with the fluids drained and the battery removed, and scrap metal 8 feet or less that is 85 percent metal or more. They refuse electronics and send them to E-Cycle Washington, refuse mattresses and take them as garbage only, refuse refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, heat pumps and dehumidifiers and send those to appliance recyclers, and refuse yard or clean wood debris at every facility.

Keep the household on the Waste Management curbside service

A Lake Stevens household with ordinary garbage and recyclables that fit the carts.

Cost & conditions
Waste Management bills the service directly and publishes no rate on its Lake Stevens pages, and it states that county disposal fee increases raise customer bills from January 1, 2026, so confirm the current amount on 1-800-592-9995.
Arrange it
Put the carts out on the assigned day, keep recycling to the every other week schedule, and ask the hauler about a special pickup or a service level change through its Lake Stevens service page.

Carts take household waste only, so furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics and construction material all need a county facility or a special pickup, and no garbage is collected on Independence Day.

A few things
worth knowing.

Furniture removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Lake Stevens.

How much does furniture removal cost in Lake Stevens?

Choose the type and size of each piece to see its price. For example, a medium dresser is $79 as the first item or $29 as an additional item. Your total starts with the highest first-item price in your selection, then uses the additional-item price for every other item. Review the complete total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I get same-day furniture pickup in Lake Stevens?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup and choose from the dates shown at checkout. Arrange to have the furniture outside according to your confirmation. You receive a text when your hauler is on the way and photos after collection.

Will you remove furniture from inside my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange indoor carrying, including any interior stairs or elevator trip. We load and take away the furniture from an accessible outdoor location. Check your building’s rules and plan the route out before booking.

Can you take several different furniture items in one pickup?

Yes. Add each piece and its quantity to one booking. A dining table and four chairs are five items; a separate mirror is not included with a dresser. You can mix eligible items from different rooms and review their combined total before paying.

Do I need to take furniture apart before pickup?

You arrange any disassembly needed to move the furniture out of your home and into an accessible outdoor pickup spot. Dropcurb does not provide indoor disassembly or carrying. If you are unsure which catalog choice matches a dismantled or unusual piece, send a photo and ask before booking.
