The local disposal guide
Lake Stevens splits waste work three ways. The city lists the vendors, Waste Management runs the curbside carts for the city with garbage every week and recycling every other week, and Snohomish County Solid Waste owns the disposal side, so anything larger than a cart goes to a county transfer station, a drop box or one of the county's special streams. A self hauled load pays by the vehicle at the transfer stations or by the cubic yard at the drop boxes, while the county's recycling areas are free for residents and take appliances without refrigerant, scrap metal, motor oil, batteries, propane tanks and fluorescent bulbs. County facilities refuse electronics, which go to the state E-Cycle Washington programme, refuse refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners, which go to private appliance recyclers, and refuse household hazardous waste, which goes free to the county station on McDougall Avenue in Everett. Mattresses and covered springs are handled as garbage at the county facilities.

Project material self hauled by the resident or the contractor has to go to a county solid waste facility under the county's flow control rule, at the garbage rate.
Exercise equipment is named on no page, so the machine is confirmed before it is hauled, and the county's metal stream is the likely route.
Household hazardous waste goes free to the county station on McDougall Avenue in Everett, with limits, a published product list and a clear refusal list.
