A few pieces, one pickup

Your room has changed. The old furniture can go.

The desk you no longer use. The dresser that doesn’t fit the new layout. The chairs left over after a move. Choose the pieces you’re done with and give them a pickup day, without arranging a quote visit.

Choose each piece

A table and four chairs are five items.

You don’t need to guess how much space your furniture fills in a truck. Match each piece to the catalog, then add its quantity. Your total updates as you go.

Tables and chairs

Choose the table, then add each chair separately. Coffee tables, side tables and dining tables have their own options. A large or substantially heavy table has a different choice.

Dressers and mirrors

Match the dresser’s overall size. Add a separate dresser mirror as its own item if it is leaving too. Empty drawers and keep the belongings you want before moving the dresser outside.

Desks and bookshelves

Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

On-call bulky collection with a free yearly allowance

Accepted with preparation

Items too large for the bins are handled through an on-call bulky item collection rather than a fixed bulky week, and once each calendar year a SeaTac residential customer may request a free collection of up to three bulky items such as appliances, couches or large chairs.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Once each calendar year a SeaTac residential customer may request a free curbside collection of up to three bulky items such as appliances, couches or large chairs. Beyond that allowance the 2026 on-call rates apply: $26.49 for a non-refrigerant appliance, $42.40 for a refrigerator or freezer, and $52.99 for a sofa, chair, mattress or box spring.
When & how
On the date arranged with Recology when the collection is booked on 206.767.1166.
Get it ready
Put the items at the curb on the arranged day, remove the doors from a refrigerator or freezer before collection, and use the yearly free allowance for up to three items before paying the on-call rates for anything beyond it. Once a year a household may also put up to one cubic yard of garbage at the curb as long as each item, bag or box is no larger than three feet by three feet.

Sofas, chairs and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

Sofas and chairs are named in the bulky example list, and the 2026 rate card prices a sofa, chair, mattress or box spring as its own line. The weekly free allowance covers up to three bulky items once a year.

City cost & eligibility
$52.99 per sofa or large chair on the 2026 SeaTac on-call bulky waste rate card. The same rate covers a mattress or box spring, a non-refrigerant appliance is $26.49 and a refrigerator or freezer is $42.40, and up to three bulky items a year are collected free when the household uses its yearly allowance.
When & how
On the date arranged with Recology after booking on 206.767.1166, or inside the yearly free allowance.
Get it ready
Put the piece at the curb on the arranged day and keep it accessible for the crew. If the household still has its free yearly allowance, apply it to the heaviest pieces first, because a sofa costs more per item than an appliance.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self-hauling from SeaTac runs to the county facility in Tukwila. The Bow Lake Recycling and Transfer Station takes recycling and garbage, charging by material and weight, with payment by Visa, Mastercard, Discover, cash or Apple Pay, a 40 foot combined vehicle and trailer limit, and a $25 charge for any unsecured load under the county code. ProviderOne, EBT and ORCA LIFT customers may qualify for the Cleanup LIFT discount, the recycling area keeps different hours from the transfer station building, and a recycling area project that started on June 22 moved some containers. The city also runs one day recycling collection events at Sunset Park, which have taken packing peanuts, plastic bags, light bulbs, electronics, propane tanks, cardboard, scrap metal, appliances, oil filters, antifreeze, toilets and sinks, with paint handled at a separate event. For most households the cheapest route stays the curbside service: the yearly free collection of up to three bulky items, and the published on-call rates beyond it.
