Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

Each residential trash customer qualifies for one complimentary bulk item collection per calendar year, scheduled by appointment instead of a fixed cleanup week. Commercial businesses and communities on shared dumpsters are not eligible for the program.

Bag, box, bundle and tie everything. No single item over 50 pounds is collected. Cut branches and limbs to four foot lengths and tie them, and leave any appliance holding refrigerant with the licensed professional's evacuation certificate. Tires, oil, propane tanks, automobile batteries, hazardous waste, concrete, blocks, brick, asphalt, stone and dirt are refused, and no commercial, contractor or demolition debris is accepted.
Furniture is one of the city's own examples of an acceptable bulk item, and the disposal page and Transfer Station list both accept furniture as well. A piece that meets the appointment limits can go out with the free annual appointment, and anything heavier goes on the Transfer Station scale.

Furniture self-hauled to the Transfer Station is charged by weight on the solid waste rate with a minimum load charge on every load, so confirm the amount for the piece before you drive it over.

Arrange it
Take the load to 2800 Sundog Ranch Road between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Secure, contain and cover the load first, because the city code requires it, then weigh in at the booth.
The station does not accept tires, paint, propane tanks, toxic or hazardous material, anything containing asbestos, car batteries, household hazardous waste, or an appliance that holds refrigerant without an evacuation certificate. Construction debris arrives as a self-haul load rather than through the bulk appointment.
