No charge. The regional household hazardous waste events are described as free and open to all City of Yuma and Yuma County residents, which includes a Somerton address. Tires brought there are limited to five, off the wheel and without rims.
When & how
Use a regional event - the 2026 dates are Saturday January 10, Saturday April 11 and November 14, all 8 a.m. to noon at 1473 S 2nd Avenue - or put the item out for your area's annual cleanup week.
Get it ready

Eligible items must be available by 6 a.m. on the first day of your designated October or November week, and the city collects them one time only. Items placed out more than a week early create a hazard and may be referred to Code Enforcement.

The city divides itself into twelve areas from October and each area gets three days, except area 12. Put the items out by 6 a.m. on the first day of your designated week.
Residential only, one pickup per address, and not provided to residents of the Orange Grove Mobile Manor or Rancho Mesa Verde subdivisions. Construction material is refused, and any material mixed with bulk clippings or branches is refused as well.

The cleanup takes refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, furniture, electronics, rimless tires, bagged lawn and tied branches, and it refuses construction material and anything mixed into a clippings pile.
