Keep the mattress, box spring or futon dry and whole, and keep it out of the three curbside carts, which take only greenwaste and food waste, recyclables or refuse.
Weekly collection uses three 96 gallon carts: green for greenwaste and food waste, blue for recyclables and black for refuse. Household hazardous waste, electronic waste and universal waste stay out of all three and go to the authority site instead, and mattresses go to the city drop-off on 10th Avenue.

For everything else the city publishes no curbside bulky programme, so a furniture, appliance or mixed load goes through the county-area hauler's paid bulky item collection arranged on its intake form, or by self-haul to the authority site at 7803 E. Hanford-Armona Road, which is open Monday to Saturday and refuses hot ashes, liquid waste, hazardous waste outside its designated days and anything but disassembled auto bodies on the vehicle side.
